EMEA Corporate Risk – Business Manager – Associate – London

Group Descriptions:

Firmwide Risk Management is comprised of independent risk groups reporting to the Firm’s Chief Risk Officer. The Firmwide risk groups work in close partnership with all lines of business, line of business aligned risk teams and functions areas to promote consistent risk management practices and ensure that the firm’s risk profile is transparent to senior management, the Board of Directors and regulators. Business Management is seeking an Associate, based in London, to support the Firmwide Market Risk, Country Risk and EMEA Risk Management Groups. The role will work with members of staff across the groups, as well as other Business Managers for Risk and stakeholders from key partner groups including Finance, Oversight and Control, and Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities :

Drive Business Strategy:

  •  Support group heads and senior risk managers as required 
  •  Support the development of strategy and priorities (in conjunction with the senior leads)
  •  Support the delivery of strategic business initiatives
  •  Work with risk teams and support groups (Finance, Tech, Reporting, Middle Office, Legal, HR) to align with risk stripe priorities
  •  Support communication of strategy, performance and priorities

Manage Business Risks:

  •  Support the identification, escalation and mitigation of controls within the Groups, including coordination of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment process
  •  Provide input and support to management reporting
  •  Develop and monitor effective business continuity plans 
  •  Ensure risk stripe is correctly positioned on firmwide/cross-risks projects

Optimize Business Performance and Planning:

  •  Provide input into the annual budget process (in conjunction with Planning and Analysis)
  •  Monitor expenses with goal of identifying reductions
  •  Oversee investment/productivity initiatives across the Groups
  •  Support the development of quarterly business reviews as well as control and risk committee presentations
  •  Day to-day coordination of real estate needs and space planning

Skills/Experience Required:

  • The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment and capable of communicating and escalating appropriately across a senior audience. Additional qualifications include:
  •  Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  •  4 years + work experience in the financial industry
  •  Business Management, Planning & Analysis (P&A), Finance and/or Risk experience preferred
  •  Existing knowledge of financial markets
  •  Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
  •  Strong project management skills
  •  Self-starter able to prioritize key tasks effectively
  •  Disciplined approach to managing processes and controls
  •  Energetic, self-motivated and effective under pressure - must enjoy the challenge of working within a fast-paced and demanding working environment
