Agile Business Analyst

Job Description

Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance both business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services. GTI-Infrastructure Development (GID) is focused on developing and delivering services that integrate software solutions with infrastructure in innovative, cost effective and efficient ways. The GID team provides services for use by business-aligned application delivery organizations, across all layers of the software stack, which may include application interface services, productivity and collaboration tools, and data integration solutions.
 
As part of the GID team, the Agile Business Analyst, Product Owner works with the Chief Product Owner and other stakeholders to define and communicate product vision and requirements to the product development team(s).  The Product Owner is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Product Backlog and full participation in all sprint ceremonies like the Sprint Planning Meeting and daily standups.  The Product Owner ensures that the requirements are clear and complete, makes adjustments in line with overall business value and ultimately accepts or rejects the software development work.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities and Accountabilities
 
  • Create, maintain, and "own" the product backlog
  • Executes responsibilities with an understanding of the product vision, strategic objectives, and priorities
  • Prioritizes stories in the product backlog for a specific team, according to business value
  • Translate high-level strategy & product direction into features, epics and user stories; prioritize in the product backlog for selection for sprint backlog
  • Is the primary interface to the Scrum Team and is responsible to provide team with user stories and help the team define the business driven test cases
  • Prioritize the backlog according to business value and stakeholder input
  • Identify product release content and timeline
  • Convey the vision and goal at the beginning of every release and sprint to Development Teams
  • Represent the stakeholders, end users and customers to the team, answers questions, and provides direction
  • Assist with the elaboration of the user stories and requirements
  • Participate in the planning meetings, reviews (demo) and retrospective meetings
  • Coordinate with other Agile Product Owners to coordinate release planning for cross-product initiatives.
  • Participates in the creation of low or high fidelity prototypes
  • Is subject matter expert (SME) in specific functional area(s) for assigned Scrum team
  • Is the primary interface to the Scrum Team and is responsible to provide team with user stories and help the team define the business driven test cases
  • Accepts or rejects product development results from a team
  • Identifies and prepares materials for and, as needed, delivers internal training for new features

 

Educational Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM), preferred
 
Required Skills and Abilities:
 
  • 3+ years of Agile experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Strong product & project management skills
  • Experience with requirements: elicitation, gathering, documentation and management
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new business domains and technical applications
  • Experience with software development of client-server, web-based, data warehousing, reporting, or similar systems
  • Excellent collaboration skills across departments and roles
  • Analytical mindset
  • Demonstrated functional and conceptual understanding of technical matters related to software development
