The main purpose of Equity Research is to provide advice to institutional investors about the shares they should buy or sell to make profits for their clients, and we work closely with colleagues in Equity cash sales, cash sales trading and trading to do this. Our strong research franchise with institutional investors, the market insights we develop, and the close relationships we establish with the companies we cover are also very valuable to internal clients such as IB, Derivatives, Credit & Rates, and Private Equity.
The role requires an experienced, Equity Financing – Sales-Trader, with extensive knowledge of the Equity Finance / Prime Brokerage space and the various trading instruments – SBL, Total Return Swaps, CFDs, Portfolio Swaps.
The role will require an experienced securities financing individual with existing client relationships to work within the Equity Finance trading team. Candidate will have a strong technical knowledge of pricing, trading, financing and funding markets. Candidate will need to have strong interpersonal skills in order to work closely with our broader markets trading and sales partners. Candidate will need to have a very good understanding of risk and controls within a financing business.
- The ability to effectively price Prime Brokerage Hedge Fund portfolios whilst considering balance sheet efficiencies, Firm return metrics and the correct mix of revenue vs financial resource consumption.
- The ability to bring client Financing balances and revenues within the Hedge Fund arena with significant client-facing sales-trading experience
- An understanding of wider issues relating to the regulatory environment and which relate directly or indirectly to the securities financing business and broader Equities/ Markets divisions.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to interact with the broader markets divisions, clients and senior management. An existing client base of Hedge Funds and relationships with Portfolio managers, traders and Portfolio finance individuals.
