(JPMC) is responsible for providing legal services to the Corporation and is organized by Practice Groups that generally conform to the Corporation's lines of business (“LOBs”) and corporate staff areas, allowing the legal staff to work closely with specific groups on a daily basis.
 
As a world-wide leader in financial services, JPMC continually seeks individuals of exceptional character and capability who can execute business and legal strategies to support a continually growing and evolving business.  The Consumer and Community Banking (“CCB”) Regulatory, Operations, Controls, and Marketing Legal Team (“ROCM”) within the JPMC Legal Department was established to provide legal support across all of the CCB LOBs to achieve the goal of improving customer experience and bringing consistency and efficiency within a robust control environment.  Attorney Management is within ROCM and plays a role in overseeing and managing the relationships with the outside law firms that JPMC retains to handle foreclosures, bankruptcy proceedings, and evictions for Mortgage Banking and Collections Litigation for Card Services, Auto Finance/Student Lending, Business Banking, and Global Wealth Management.
 
Attorney Management seeks an experienced manager to supervise the personnel, processes, and procedures of this team of approximately 16 non-attorneys, including Delivery Managers responsible for the law firms’ compliance with Third-Party Oversight (TPO) requirements, and team members responsible for:
  • law firm engagement and disengagement;
  • communications between the various LOBs and the law firms;
  • periodic reassessments of whether the law firms meet JPMC requirements;
  • periodic reassessments of the volume of cases referred to the law firms based on their performance and capacities; and
  • issues escalated from the law firms, LOBs, and other teams involved in law-firm oversight.
The Head of Attorney Management, in conjunction with the Attorney Management team and other JPMC stakeholders, will work with law firms to resolve issues and will design and implement processes and procedures to further JPMC’s law-firm-oversight program and control agenda.  The position requires significant interaction with the attorneys and staff of law firms in all 50 states.  It also requires collaboration with the ROCM attorneys in JPMC’s law-firm-oversight program, senior management of our client LOBs, and other internal stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
  • College degree.
  • At least ten years of experience in vendor oversight or vendor management, facing increased challenges and handling increased responsibilities over time.
  • At least ten years of managerial experience.   
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective collaboration, and flexibility.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and judgment and the ability to drive matters to completion.
  • The ability to work effectively and multitask successfully in a fast-paced and complex business environment.
Additional Preferred Experience:
  • Experience overseeing or managing law firms.
  • Experience in mortgage default litigation or collections litigation, or other analogous financial-services litigation.
  • Experience managing in a matrix environment and managing personnel in multiple locations.
  • Experience with regulatory or enforcement matters.
