The Wholesale Client On-boarding (WCOB) program is a cross-business program focused on building a global platform to streamline the Client On-boarding process.  This transformation program's goal is to implement a standardized and consistent Client on-boarding approach across J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) in order to deliver a best in class client experience.

 

WCOB is supported by the Global Controls team whose role is to develop and manage a Control Program in each region that identifies and monitors significant risks and ensures compliance with operational policies, control procedures and legal/regulatory requirements. 

Job Description:

As a WCOB Controls Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the controls agenda globally, including identifying and monitoring significant risks and ensuring compliance with operational policies, control procedures, and legal/regulatory requirements.  The controls agenda will support the end-to-end WCOB organization by providing management with sufficient information to understand and monitor key operational risks and regulatory activities/concerns.

Global Controls will partner with critical stakeholders including Oversight and Control, Compliance, Technology and Audit to ensure alignment to firm standards. WCOB’s operational risks and controls will be consistently evaluated on an ongoing and independent basis using a risk-based approach to comply with regulatory requirements.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain solid knowledge of WCOB policies, procedures, and operating model as well as systems/platforms used to carry out these activities
  • Perform internal control reviews and Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) testing to validate the effectiveness of key controls in the COB operational processes
  • Advise on and continually reassess key risks and appropriateness of controls to ensure timely identification of significant risks and issues to support an evolving business & regulatory environment
  • Support the annual RCSA program: analyze key risks and appropriateness of controls; communicate key messages to management; develop action plans to mitigate control gaps
  • Provide reporting of significant control activities (e.g., status of audits and exams, outstanding issues and corrective actions, continuity of business plans and testing, critical information security breaches, control scorecards for COB Organization, mandatory training breaches, etc.).  Information to be sourced from all related sources
  • Provide support to examination teams for all WCOB Audits, Regulatory Examinations, GFCC Reviews, etc.
  • Analyze issues identified for trends and appropriate corrective action in all affected areas. Perform root cause analysis and work with COB teams to implement best practices
  • Support the Global Control function by participating in various control initiatives/projects as assigned by the Control Manager
  • Provide reporting of significant control activities (e.g., status of audits and exams, outstanding issues and corrective actions, continuity of business plans and testing, critical information security breaches, control scorecards for COB Organization, mandatory training breaches, etc.).  Information to be sourced from all related sources
  • Synthesize large amounts of information efficiently and effectively into clear and concise messages to be relayed to WCOB Global Controls Lead and key stakeholders
  • Work to tight deadlines, and deliver an accurate product in a very aggressive schedule

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate strong AML/KYC knowledge; a good understanding of the onboarding/KYC lifecycle, systems and platforms
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in AML/KYC, Compliance, or Risk/Controls within then Investment/Corporate Banking business of a financial institution
  • Experience with Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) or Control Self Assessments (CSA) preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including taking the initiative to drive change
  • Strong relationship management, influence management and ability to partner with stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree and or relevant work experience require 
  • Advanced understanding of internal control concepts
  • Ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls
  • Experience in assessing end-to-end processes to identify operational risk 
  • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
  • Ability to work independently or within teams
  • Proven ability in meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Must be proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business environments
  • Self starter who is able to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management in a persuasive manner
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint); advanced user knowledge of excel required
