Portfolio Analysis Group

J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Portfolio Analysis Group (“PAG”) is responsible for performance measurement and portfolio analytics for external clients and serves as a value-added source of independent analysis and thought leadership for internal clients including portfolio managers, front office advisors, sales & marketing and senior management.  Analysis types and activities include, but are not limited to, rate of return calculations, return attribution, risk analytics, competitive analysis and composite construction.  This analysis is instrumental to help external clients understand drivers of return in their portfolios and help us internally measure the performance of our products and strategies. 

 

PAG serves different client groups through two main lines of business:

 
  1. Global Investment Management which is a leading investment manager of choice for institutions, financial intermediaries and individual investors worldwide with a clear focus on managing client assets and delivering strong risk-adjusted returns.   With over 400 different strategies, Global Investment Management spans the full spectrum of asset classes, including equity, fixed income, cash liquidity, currency, real estate, hedge funds and private equity. 
 
  1. The J.P. Morgan Private Bank, which includes both the Ultra High Net Worth and High Net Worth businesses, offers individuals and families personalized, comprehensive financial solutions that integrate sophisticated investment management, capital markets, trust and banking capabilities. 
 
Description of Role

PAG seeks a Business Manager in our NY office to help support the management and oversight of various projects, risk and control oversight, vendor analysis and selection, business case preparation and presentation, strategic investment planning, financial analysis, business strategy planning and internal reporting for senior investment committee members.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple medium and long-term projects with the objective of automating processes and increasing efficiency across the team
  • Support key mutual fund performance metrics for senior management presentations and press releases
  • Document processes, product catalogues, project progress updates, communication artefacts, and other critical information
  • Contribute to the  risk & control management oversight globally; liaise with control officers and other partners to ensure all procedures are being followed consistently throughout the PAG organization
  • Coordinate, document and present investment initiatives; create business cases, financial analysis, and help articulate business benefits
  • Help oversee PAG’s nearly annual budget; liaise with our Finance partners to ensure outlook is accurate, transparent and understood
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the group; this would include system rationalization, competitive analysis and examination of industry best practices
  • Work with internal partners for coordination of vendor partnerships, pricing and negotiations
  • Manage and work with internal and external partners to automate and improve existing business metrics and success criteria
  • Project planning and analysis – including detailed project plans, documenting scope and business requirements, and detailing issues & problems
  • Work with and help influence senior management to drive strategic decisions by developing concise recommendations and preparing and delivering well designed presentations

Skills Required:

  • Strong project management and critical thinking ability
  • Familiarity with the asset management industry
  • Knowledge of risk management, controls and best practices
  • Proficiency in investment concepts, portfolio analysis, asset classes and various portfolio types
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Creative thinking to solve complex problems
  • Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills
  • Strong finance/accounting skills
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and strong work ethic
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving deliverables
  • Strong expertise in MS Excel, Powerpoint and familiarity with MS Access is helpful
