The Team:
The Individual Retirement team is part of Retirement Solutions, a key group within JPMorgan Asset Management’s Multi-Asset Solutions business.  The team develops and delivers industry-leading retirement-related thought leadership across both individual and defined contribution channels and client types.  In partnership with the Retirement Insights marketing team, Individual Retirement provides subject matter expertise and analytical analysis in the creation and presentation of the award-winning Guide to Retirement program, the Defined Contribution Conversations, and Principles for a Successful Retirement which has been launched in the US as well as key markets in APAC including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and China. 
The Role – Vice President, Quantitative Strategist in Individual Retirement/Retirement Solutions:
This role is focused in developing retirement-related insights, in partnership with Retirement Strategists and other thought leaders within Retirement Solutions, through the robust analysis of large data sets such as JPMC spending behaviour, Consumer Expenditure Survey, and American Time Use Survey among others.  This role also develops and supports various analytical models that are a critical part of the Guide to Retirement program in the US and APAC regions.  This position will be based in New York, reporting to the Head of Individual Retirement/Chief Retirement Strategist.
This would be an ideal position for a dedicated, driven and research-oriented professional looking to help shape one of the top strategic initiatives in J.P. Morgan Asset Management.  The role provides the opportunity to further develop deep expertise in the retirement industry, while gaining broad exposure across JPMC.  Key qualifications include:
  • Bachelor degree
  • Must have extensive research experience and Investment Management and/or Retirement industry experience.
  • 7-8 years of work experience within government, academia, think tank, consulting, asset management firm or other relevant field.
  • Ability to efficiently clean, process, and analyze large data files to identify and communicate insights in a compelling and clear way. 
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and machine learning concepts.
  • Experience with R for advanced statistical analysis
  • Experience in or desire to build financial planning models that incorporate income taxes, Social Security benefit estimation and tax-deferred account rules (contribution limits, RMDs, early withdrawal penalties, etc).
  • Mastery of Excel and VBA, power point proficiency.
  • Experience with or desire to learn Non-US retirement systems (specifically in Asia Pacific) and ability to adjust modeling and research by country
  • Knowledge of banking products and/or transaction-level spending categories a plus.   
  • Proven ability to work with others in an iterative research process, and responsive to feedback and collaboration.  
  • Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills.
  • Flexible work hours to support APAC strategist’s needs and some travel required.
