Asset Management - Global Investment Management – Financial Planning & Analysis team - Analyst/Associate - NY

Job Description

The GIM Financial Planning & Analysis (P&A) team works directly for the GIM CFO and our primary role is to provide him and the GIM Operating Committee with analysis of our financial results and business metrics.
We are looking for a strong analyst or junior associate to join the team in London or New York and primarily be part of our team for control, analysis and management of the financial aspects of our compensation process.  This includes:
  • Finance ownership of the Mandatory Investor Plan (MIP), a deferred compensation plan that allows employees to invest their compensation in JPM mutual funds.
  • Ownership of our MIP Hedge portfolio, where we manage around USD457mm in investments across our funds globally
  • Being the main point of contact for MIP across all the Finance AM group, working closely with Human Resources, product and portfolio management teams, Legal Entity Control, among others
  • Calculation and control of the GIM monthly compensation accruals.
  • Preparing forecasts/budgets and scenario analysis around our compensation expense, as well as providing detailed variance analysis.
  • Working with senior management to help them understand and allocate out their year end compensation pools, as well as participating in the year end GIM OC compensation review.
    This person will also get involved in the activities of the broader P&A team including:
  • Analysis of the overall GIM financial results and business metrics.
  • Preparation of presentations on behalf of Craig Sullivan (e.g. GIMOC financial update).
  • Involvement in the production of scorecards for evaluating sales people and portfolio manager performance.
    The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong control mindset, possess solid accounting knowledge, be highly analytical, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and exhibit influence and relationship building skills.  
  • Working towards to an accounting professional qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or in a subject of a technical nature.
  • Asset management and funds  knowledge desired
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of finance and accounting concepts.
  • Exemplary communication, influencing, relationship building, and coordination skills.
  • Technical aptitude - advanced skills in Excel and Hyperion Essbase.  Comfort with complex Accounting and Financial Systems
  • Strong process improvement skills (project management skills a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Team player with ability to be respected as a trusted partner with the Business, Finance, Human Resources and P&A Teams.
