Cyber Network Engineer

Job Description

As an experienced professional in our Cybersecurity organization, you’re equally committed to watching over our data today, as well as finding innovative new ways to protect it in the future. To do that, you’ll help lead a highly motivated team laser-focused on analyzing, designing, developing and delivering solutions built to stop adversaries and strengthen our operations. You’ll use your leadership skills to give guidance, best practice advice and support across all our business and technology groups. You’ll take the lead on incident response, risk reviews and vulnerability assessments, identifying threats, all of which ladder up to driving and selecting cost-effective solutions. You’ll deploy best practices, new policies, and emerging trends to strengthen our strategic roadmap. You’ll keep management, executive directors, managing directors and stakeholders in the loop, as well as managing people and budgets. Serve as a Cyber Range Engineer within the firm’s Cyber Exercise Program responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of cyber range hardware/software and related infrastructure. The Cyber Range Engineer supports the team’s annual calendar of events, including multi-team simulations and workforce assessment labs, ensuring that system Hardware (HW), operating systems, Software (SW) systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational cybersecurity and technology requirements. Implements and improves the range backup strategy to include periodic testing and recovery for validation. Develops, implements and maintains the range backend and in-range appliance HW maintenance schedule. Monitors backend network and in-range performance of HW and SW to maintain high availability requirements and adjusts parameters (i.e., RAM, vCPUs, etc.) in order to maximize performance. Implements and maintains backend network and in-range log files. Implements and maintains the range SW maintenance plan to include scheduling and updating on a routine basis core network service and cybersecurity SW tools/applications. Conducts all required pre/post range simulation event preparation/cleanup requirements such as Virtual Machine (VM) backups, log file resets/purges, VM restores, etc.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

      Advanced expertise in Cybersecurity organization practices, operations, risk management processes, principles, architectural requirements, engineering and threats and vulnerabilities, including incident response methodologies, tactics and strategy to protect, detect, respond and recover from attacks

      Deep fluency in national and international laws, regulations, policies and ethics related to financial industry Cybersecurity

      Seasoned command of multiple disciplines, optimizing Cybersecurity products and services through the lifecycle

      Recognized expertise in Cybersecurity and Agile, creating competitive advantage through the application of leading-edge technologies and methodologies

      Strategically oriented and can influence at the group and Firm level as needed

      Expertise in working in partnership with colleagues throughout the firm, and in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals

Strong knowledge in building and maintaining computer networks (routing, topologies, support, design, security, patch management and health monitoring).
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft networking, Linux operating systems, and Linux networking
• Installing and patching of both Windows and Linux operating systems and software applications/security tools that run on both platforms
• Strong background/experience in systems administration and continuity of operations for computer networks

• Familiarity with how key US and international financial systems operate, to include an understanding of current cyber threats against these systems
• Knowledge of and experience working in the US financial services sector is a plus
• Proficient writing and organization skills and ability to communicate effectively
• Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and Sharepoint
• BS/MS degree in Cyberspace, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Networking, and/or Information Systems; Cisco networking certifications desired
