The Corporate Sector, with an annual operating expense budget of over $10B and headcount of more than 35,000, is managed in two groups: “CTC” (the Chief Investment Office, Treasury and Private Investments), and “Other Corporate” (all other functions). The responsibilities below pertain to Other Corporate only.

The Corporate Sector Finance & Business Management (“CS F&BM”) group provides financial management, business management and reporting support for multiple Corporate functions, including Enterprise Technology, Global Real Estate, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Corporate Responsibility, Audit, Executive and other staff and corporate-aligned areas.


The Corporate Sector Planning & Analysis (P&A) team is a centralized P&A team within CS F&BM supporting the function leaders and their CFOs in the 30+ corporate functions that span the Firm. The team coordinates across all CS F&BM teams and is the liaison with the Firmwide P&A group, Investor Relations, the Regulatory Capital Management Office, Resolution & Recovery, Corporate Financial Reporting, and the Global Finance & Business Management organization. The team consists of approximately 80 people, with primary locations in Jersey City, Columbus and Mumbai.


Reporting to the Head of Planning & Analysis for Corporate Sector, the Head of Corporate Sector Allocations will be responsible for leading the financial planning, forecasting, analysis and reporting of Corporate allocations to the different lines of businesses. The role will have end-to-end responsibilities for leading the operational cadence, building financial analytics, identifying and delivering on simplification initiatives and executive communication to the LOBs and Functional leadership. The team currently is comprised individuals in the US and Mumbai.


1)Operating Cadence: Using the firm-wide forecasting and annual budgeting calendar, this team sets the operating process cadence for the overall Corporate Sector. This includes sequencing various analytical and operating activities, synchronizing them with the firm-wide SAPCO and ESSBASE system routines, and establishing a communication rhythm with the multiple stakeholders involved in the expense allocation process. This is a foundation element of the role as it sets up the executive communication cadence that falls into place with the LOB finance teams and CFO partner teams in Corporate Sector.

2)Financial Analytics: An essential component of this role is understanding, and subsequently articulating, the underlying drivers for changes in Corporate Sector expense allocation to LOB Finance leadership teams and the Corporate leadership teams. This analysis bridges the trajectory of the cost forecast for each individual function with the specific component that the LOB P&Ls will need to bear. This analysis is multi-faceted, requires input and perspective from function specific stakeholders and forms the basis of the iterative allocation roundtable meetings that Corporate Sector P&A hosts with the LOB finance leadership teams.

3) Simplification initiatives & technology enhancements: In addition to providing operational and analytical support, this team will need to spearhead both process and technology simplification initiatives within the allocations space. Currently, the process and technology footprint has multiple systems (GOLIATH, SAPCO, amongst others), numerous allocation rules by function and multiple manual interventions. This provides an excellent opportunity to re-look at the existing processes and simplify the operations. In addition, and perhaps most importantly, the Head of Corporate Sector Allocations will act as a strategic partner and advisor to the Corporate Sector CFO and Corporate Sector P&A Head, and will be responsible for ad-hoc financial analyses that are relevant to the Corporate Sector functions. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills and requires partnering with all the Corporate Sector CFOs, the Corporate P&A head and LOB P&A heads and key expense management contacts. The collaboration and close partnership with each of the stakeholders is key to success and ensures a unified and consistent approach to processes, output and decisions.

Specific duties include:
  • Establish operating process cadence – preparation, review, financial systems update, driver analysis and communication - of Corporate Sector allocations, at each planning cycle.
  • Leadership and execution around preparation and communication required analytics to explain changes in the allocation dollars and drivers to the finance leadership teams at each LOB and Functions.
  • Interpretation and presentation of financial reports around expense allocations to Corporate Sector and LOB leadership teams.
  • Establishment of strong relationships with all partners (Corp Sector CFOs, Corp P&A and LOB P&A heads, Corporate Finance leads)
  • Synthesize recommendations and lead operating enhancement to financial processes, within the Corporate Sector, as well as improve coordination with the Corporate and LOB P&A teams
  • Continued execution and refinement of the Corporate Sector Allocation Simplification initiative including timely reporting of Actual Allocations, as well as Roundtables with the LOBs to explain, discuss and support allocation amounts
  • Direct oversight of and partnership with the India Global Service Center (GSC) Corporate P&A team that is dedicated to supporting the allocations process; Lead in coordinating the expansion of the offshore India support model across the Corporate Sector Finance group
  • Continual assessment and review of onshore/offshore P&A model within own team as well as across Corporate Sector Finance group
  • Strong partnership with the Strategic Expense Management team on matters related to expense reduction initiatives and Sourcing category management
  • Partner with the Corporate P&A team to help deliver further alignment of LOB and LE financial reporting views

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA/CPA preferred
  • 12+ years of finance and overall business management experience in a complex financial organization
  • Advanced analytical skills, problem solving, good critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information in varying degrees of detail depending on the audience.
  • Highly organized and control oriented.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and quickly assess and adjust priorities.
  • Advanced Excel & Powerpoint skills.
  • Knowledge of financial systems a plus including Essbase.
  • Proven ability to act independently with excellent decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, issue resolution and negotiation
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects and initiatives at same time
  • Strong leadership skills with experience working in a demanding global environment
