Corporate Technology & Risk (CTR) delivers streamlined and consistent solutions supporting JPMorgan Chase’s Controls, Compliance, Legal, HR and IT Risk agendas, with a focus on stability, delivery, efficiencies and people. The goal of CTR’s drive to standardization, consistency and simplicity is a JPMorgan Chase architecture that fosters long-term productivity, quality and innovation across the entire enterprise. The disciplines within this organization are Compliance Technology, Oversight & Controls Technology, Architecture & Delivery Services, Legal & e-Discovery, Identity & Access Management, IT Risk & Controls, HR Real Estate & Global Services Technology, and Third Party Risk Management. 


The Architecture & Delivery Services (ADS) organization within CTR is looking for a Senior Applications Architect. The role is similar to an Enterprise Architect role but scoped to business functions within CTR. This role requires broad technology skills and ability to create common architecture capabilities across a portfolio of related applications. This individual will be responsible for contributing to the evolution of CTR Architecture policy and strategy. The position will work closely with CTR Chief Architect and other members of the CTR Core Architecture team, infrastructure architecture, and senior development resources. Communication, presentation, written skills and ability to influence senior management is important to this role. Knowledge & experience with architecture methodologies is a plus.


Responsibilities will be to:

  • Communicate, clarify, and promote adoption of standards, guidelines, best practices, and patterns within an n-tier target state architecture in accordance with overall CTR and JPMC Firmwide policy and standards.
  • Define relevant standards, processes, and best practices and incrementally deploying them within application areas in a controlled, evolutionary way that can serve as basis for all current and future projects within CTR.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and governance processes.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in the:
    • Creation of roadmaps and blueprints for the evaluation of the technology portfolio.
    • Development and evolution of applicable Architecture Capability Models.
  • Participate in CTR Central Architecture Policy and Governance practices in alignment with the Chief Architects vision and in collaboration with the CTR Core Architecture team.
  • Create Conceptual Architectures that align business needs with Target State Architecture.
  • Create Target State Architectures that accommodate strategies across JPMC.
  • Coach and mentor design leads and solution architects.
  • Guide tech leads to create roadmap of target state architecture with intermediate states.
  • Deliver results under demanding timelines.
  • 10+ years of direct experience in Application Architecture; knowledge/experience with Data Architecture, Technology Architecture and Infrastructure Architecture.
  • 10+ years experience in architecture and design across multiple systems.
  • Strong Technical understanding of Enterprise Service Bus, Messaging, Workflow Engines, Rules Engines, Integration Tools and other enterprise tools.
  • Strong Technical understanding in the areas of Java, .NET, SQL, JMS, ODBC, JDBC, REST, SOAP, UI technology, relational databases, web services, data access technologies, ETL, internet technologies.
  • Strong Technical understanding and ability to promote Software Design Principles, Software Design Patterns, Integration Patterns and Best Practices.
  • Strong Technical understanding and ability to promote SOA – Service Oriented Architecture and the SOA Principles and Patterns.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders to drive success.
  • Ability to create trusted partnership with lines of business technology teams.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience; graduate or post-graduate degree a plus.
