Corporate - Capital Management - Capital Adequacy Planning & Analysis - Associate

Job Description

The Capital Management (CM) function resides, within Corporate Finance and its mandate includes:
  • Ensuring efficient and appropriate management of the Firm’s capital
  • Managing the Firmwide Capital Stress Testing process, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), as well as, the Federal Reserve-mandated Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR)
  • Partnering with lines of business (LOB) and Finance and Risk management functions to prepare JPM’s Capital Plan
  • Oversees end-to-end risk-weighted asset (RWA) and Firmwide capital measurement processes
  • Guiding Lines of Business (LOBs) and clients on efficient capital decisions
  • Capital analysis required to support the Firm’s Annual Recovery and Resolution Plans
  • Interfacing with regulators on capital, CCAR and other stress testing related matters, including managing the Firm’s communications with regulators and providing feedback to Federal agencies on new regulatory requirements
Role Description:
The individual will be a member of the Capital Adequacy Planning & Analysis team within the Corporate Capital Stress Testing (CCST) group and contribute to the capital planning and analysis required for the CCAR and Mid-Cycle stress tests. In addition, the individual will extensively partner with colleagues across Corporate Finance, Risk functions and line of business areas. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Develop and analyze Firmwide stress test results in order for senior management and the BOD to approve a capital distribution plan
  • Analysis of new rules and regulations applicable to stress testing and capital management
  • Address ad-hoc analytical requests from our partners, senior management, and regulators
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Firm’s reporting tools and processes
  • Develop understanding of JPM’s regulatory requirements, process and an opportunity to become SME on capital management
  • Manage preparation of various executive presentations (e.g. Capital Governance Committee, Board of Directors meeting, FRB Results) related to stress testing
The position offers great visibility into strategic capital management initiatives, as well as, the unique opportunity to understand initiatives from a Firmwide perspective.  The team has significant visibility to senior management as the projects are regularly used by senior management in their discussions with the Operating Committee, the Board of Directors and the Firm’s regulators.  
  • A highly motivated individual, who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment

  • Strong analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
  • Knowledge of balance sheet, income statement and basic accounting concepts preferred
  • Prior Basel regulatory capital experience (e.g. Basel I/II/III) preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and be hands on in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent oral & written communication and relationship management skills
  • Creative self-starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel & PowerPoint in particular)
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred (3- 5 years relevant experience)
