Position Summary:

J.P. Morgan is looking for a highly experienced, proven regional trade head to join and lead its North America Global Trade & Loan Products (GT&LP) team within its Treasury Services business. This team delivers a range of strategically significant value-add solutions to clients in North America. Based in New York, the position reports to the Head of GT&LP and is a key part of the global team’s management leadership, while setting strategy and driving the activities of North America’s GT&LP team.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Work with and lead 40+ member GT&LP team, while leveraging expertise and resources of GT&LP product and functional teams and strategic partners, to evolve and execute a regional trade strategy.

  • Responsible for the P&L of the Trade Products originated and delivered in the region and the overall financial performance of the region.

  • Responsible for managing partnerships with country, business and product heads.

  • Oversees account planning in support of the Trade products in the region, the sales strategy and for the effective pipeline management versus resources available.

  • Provides strategic direction for the client servicing function, including engagement in technology and vendor investment.

  • Works closely with other heads of functions to ensure the end-to-end client experience is understood and considered in all strategic decision making.

  • Works with key leadership in the respective lines of business, GCB, GCRM, Technology, and Risk to define, prioritize, and achieve strategic objectives.

  • Responsible for hiring, staff planning and staff development in the region.

  • Directly involved in operational and/or functional execution of implementation strategies, including the communication of strategic initiatives and administration.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of 3-year strategic plan for the region.

  • Ensure appropriate levels of product expertise in sales and relationship management teams to sell complete suite of trade & loan products.

  • Meet/exceed sales new business origination targets and revenue growth objectives.

  • Engage senior management, advisory team members and other client coverage partners as appropriate to convert sales opportunities.

  • Further develop sales team through coaching and training, proactively managing talent, supplementing team with active recruiting.

  • Provide market and competitive feedback to product management.


Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in Trade Products, (commercial letters of credit, collections, financings, standby LCs, Supply Chain Finance, Export Finance.)
  • Seasoned and well-rounded experience of international business.  Excellent understanding of working capital management principles and latest requirements in trade finance & supply chain finance, purchasing finance and procurement and broader inventory management and financing
  • Familiarity/experience with functions, operations and technologies supporting Traditional Trade product and sales platforms; familiarity with the regulatory environment
  • Proven track record in originating and closing trade transactions across multiple products, geographies and legal jurisdictions
  • Strong financial and analytical skills; financially disciplined
  • Quick to spot and distil key business issues, communicate and drive high performance teams around agreed priorities; strong commercial judgment and influencing abilities
  • Exceptional stakeholder relations with the ability to interpret and deliver complex messages and concepts concisely both internally and externally at all levels within the organization and across LOBs
  • Proven performance in growth strategy identification, proposition development, running market pilots and early stage executions with clients
  • Dynamic, proven leader with ability to innovate, influence/drive change and  challenge subordinates
  • Relentless focus on client experience
  • Highest level of integrity and good judgment; tremendous team player
  • Flexibility for regular domestic and international travel
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, Masters or MBA degree is preferred
