Mortgage Banking Collateral Underwriting Supervisor - Lewisville, TX

Position Summary


The Collateral Underwriting Team is responsible for underwriting appraisals in compliance with Chase and Investor requirements. Underwrites must be conducted within required SLA’s and inconformance with policies and procedures.
The Collateral Underwriting Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of up to 15 Collateral Underwriters. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring Underwriters comply with policies, procedures, and hit key performance metrics. Supervisors Identify opportunities for improvement and lead their team through change.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escalation point for team and internal partners.
  • Ensure team consistently meets or exceeds established productivity and quality targets
  • Improve timeliness and effectiveness of the team/department
  • Proactively manage daily reports ensuring SLA’s are consistently met.
  • Monitor Team's progress working follow up items.
  • Underwrite Appraisals as necessary.

Review a minimum of 3 appraisals per month per Underwriter to gain an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Provide coaching and counseling as necessary.

Knowledge and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, business degree preferred
  • 5 years appraisal review experience as a licensed appraiser (certified residential or general) or 5 years underwriting experience, required.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in mortgage banking.
  • FHA and/or VA Appraisal/LAAP Certification preferred
  • Process Improvement experience.
