Firmwide Chief Development Office (FCDO) is responsible for providing thought leadership around technology development strategies, multi-year roadmap to deliver against those strategies, establish process, tools and frameworks for improved and efficient application delivery across JPMC. The FCDO office shall bring together a unified vision across Line of Businesses (LOBs) to set priorities and direction for partner teams around our core capabilities, process and platforms for the firm as well as define implementable firmwide common tools, frameworks and processes to improve productivity and efficiencies.

 

The candidate selected will join the Development Strategy & Transformation team within FCDO and will be responsible for leading efforts aligned within Talent and Developer Enablement pillars. Talent pillar’s goal is to enhance productivity and delivery quality among application development teams by identifying, hiring, recognizing, and retaining top talent. Talent pillar also supports the development and propagation of a technical career path across the firm (e.g., developer career path blueprint, high-performance attributes and behaviors) and supports recognition or training programs within the firm. S/he will be called upon to review existing programs for technology organization to understand incentives, career path, etc. and evaluate developer productivity measures/metrics and tools being used. The candidate will be expected to recommend appropriate career development measures for technologists and quantifiable metrics aligned with them to set goals and measure progress. The candidate will partner closely with LOB technology teams, HR and Chief Learning Office and other functional partners to accomplish this.

 

Developer Enablement’s goal is to standardize strategic developer frameworks (internal and commercial), help develop reference architectures/guides and drive application development best practices. S/he will be called upon to help centrally identify, define, and implement solutions needed to mature JPMC’s application delivery capability into the future with a specific focus on improving developer productivity by providing key frameworks, strategic tools and services, and propagating application development best practices.  The candidate will be expected to review current tools footprint and evaluate frameworks for investment and identify reusable components to recommend them for adoption across the firm.

 

The candidate should have a clear understanding of application development functions as well as strong experience around improving productivity and creating scalable organization constructs and frameworks. The preferred candidate will be able to work independently to solve complex problems and work with internal LOB or functional partners to recommend, implement and validate appropriate firmwide solutions. A successful individual will be a problem solver engaged in finding solutions to enterprise-wide issues and will be required to work with cross functional teams both internally and with outside vendors.

REQUIRED:

 

  • 8+ years of consulting (internal or external) or related experience in technology strategy or software development functions with a focus on improving productivity and delivery speed/quality
  • Ability to think strategically and recommend holistic solutions within cost, risk and time constraints
  • Experience working with talent management frameworks for application development functions
  • Experience defining software development best practices for large teams
  • Experience in developer tools, frameworks and standards for development pipeline activities
  •  Excellent verbal/written communication skills and interpersonal skills to work with LOB or functional partners and subject matter experts
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities or tight deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • Consulting or advisory experience (internal or external) partnering with senior technology leaders
