The Fixed Income Middle Office – FIMO - is a team of professionals that service and support Portfolio Managers within the Global Fixed Income Business. Located alongside the investment professionals, FIMO is a “Go To” resource for Portfolio Managers with either issues which need resolving or initiatives which they someone to own/lead. FIMO partners very closely with Technology and its Operations peers to deliver the right outcome to the Portfolio Management team.
The Columbus based FIMO team is working to implement a Global group approach which will ultimately span all key Investment desk locations across the globe. As such, for the right candidate, FIMO presents individuals with the potential for geographical mobility and diverse career prospects.
The Fixed Income Middle Office Analyst will be responsible for performing a series of BAU tasks for the Fixed Income Middle Office – the list of BAU is preset but not exhaustive and requirements can change on a daily basis. Some of the daily queries can become mini projects where the individual would have to demonstrate tenacity and thoroughness to deliver the right outcome.
The Fixed Income Middle Office Analyst will be responsible with other members of the team for publishing daily cash and analytical control reports to the Front Office and be prepared to answer any queries raised by the Front Office which arise from these.
The Fixed Income Middle Office Analyst will also be involved in running tactical or strategic projects and be expected to participate to Global Meetings involving various stakeholders from Operations, Technology and the Business.
The Fixed Income Middle Office Analyst should work to resolve production issues and liaise with his/her colleagues globally to gather Portfolio Managers requirements and provide solutions to them.
Profile of the Candidate
FIMO is looking for an ambitious Professional to Associate level to gain exposure across the Fixed Income Business by running BAU and to take ownership of issues raised by the Front Office. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, very thorough and persistent with previous experience of working in a fast paced environment.
It is essential the individual can perform under a pressured environment.
The successful candidate will need to have a very good knowledge of Fixed Income, and have excellent communication skills to liaise with Portfolio Managers and a wide spectrum of stakeholders.
The successful candidate should have a strong technical background and be able to operate peers to peers with the Portfolio Managers when it comes to discuss Fixed Income
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business, Math or Computer Science
• Previous Asset Management experience (trade support, business or systems analyst)
• Background using internal & external financial systems (i.e. Bloomberg)
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong technical & analytical skills
• Understanding of fixed income products including bonds, money markets, currency & derivatives
• Ability to influence people, lead discussions, track issues and troubleshoot solutions
