Credit Risk Management is responsible for lending activities and related credit exposures within JPMorgan’s Corporate & Investment Bank. The group is organized by geography with teams aligned by industry. Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship and execute the business strategy in partnership with CIB Coverage.

                                 

Specifically, Credit Risk Management:

  • Monitors a portfolio of clients within a specific industry focusing on both primary and operating exposure
  • Remains current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, potential problems and opportunities 
  • Provides credit expertise in structuring and/or pricing loan and derivative transactions
  • Leads or assists in negotiating and finalizing documentation for loans and derivatives
  • Prepares credit analysis and seeks approval for all transactions, including loans, derivatives, and operating exposures, individually or as part of a deal team to ensure the credit products are delivered to the clients in a seamless manner
  • Maintains a credit calling effort and is aware of client’s needs and cross-sells as appropriate
  • Works with CIB Coverage and GCB on capital allocation for clients via the balance sheet approval process
  • Supports and manages credit exposure to threshold and industry limits while proposing strategy statements for clients exceeding such limits
  • Performs Agent role for closed syndicated transactions, including negotiating and documenting amendments and waivers
  • Prepares and presents periodic risk and industry reviews including special projects as requested by senior/executive JPM management 

 

Typical Job Duties in CRM Power & Utilities

 Vice Presidents and Associates manage a portfolio of clients on an ongoing basis.   Specific duties will include:

  • Perform credit diligence on an ongoing basis
  • Provide a cohesive and comprehensive approach to ratings, risk assessment, portfolios, clients and sectors within the following key sectors: Power, Regulated Utilities, Pipelines.
  • Partner with CIB Coverage, Global Corporate Banking, DCM, ECM, Treasury Services and Sales and Trading groups to ensure client needs are met and credit exposures are accurately assessed
  • Recommend credit decisions and escalate to Credit Executives for final approval decision
  • Structure and negotiate credit agreements, commitment papers, ISDAs and Treasury Services documentation with counsel and coordinate implementation
  • Own credit policy and provide recommendations to enhance relevant policies based on credit, industry, and regulatory changes
  • Leads the discussion and responds to questions regarding clients during internal and regulatory audits of the portfolio
  • Coordinates and supervises the workflow of junior team members and assists with their training and development
  •  Excellent credit credentials, analytical skills and experience plus in-depth knowledge of accounting and corporate finance
  • Strong client interaction skills and outstanding verbal and written communication skills – able to partner with internal groups and interface with external clients 
  • Excellent product knowledge including traditional credit products and derivatives
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Experience with the Power/Utilities industry a plus
