Tech Ops Analyst – Windows Server, GTI - SO, CSS Automation Engineer
Server Operations (SO) is responsible for service support and delivery for JPMorgan Chase's Global
Technology Infrastructure (GTI). Server Operations provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services for over 30,000 servers, worldwide. Support functions leverage and execute industry-leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.
As an Automation Engineer, you will be a technical member of the Server Operations organization, responsible for supporting the global Windows server estate. The primary responsibility will be to focus on delivering automation and reductions in the incident space to drive down total Time to Resolution for incoming incident volume. This includes working with business partners and peer groups to ensure quick recovery and minimal impact for identified issues as well as delivering bulk analysis and resolution of incidents. Developing, maintaining, and following documentation are important to the success of the engineer and the team as a whole. You will also be responsible for reacting to standard incident volume and providing customer support for reported issues.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify gaps and create checks to preemptively resolve issues, reduce ticket volume, and reduce time to resolution.
  • Build tools to validate configurations and expedite troubleshooting of common issues.
  • Perform bulk remediation
  • Solid understanding of PowerShell Remoting, WMI commands, commandlets, functions for automating server admin tasks
  • Improve existing platforms and services with modern configuration management and self-service tools in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Experience with IIS Win 2k8/2k8R2/2k12R2, SSL, .NET, SQL, Oracle, VMWare ESX, Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, SNARE, Tideway, BDNA, NetBackup, CA SiteMinder,  HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), iDrac, Control-m, Autosys
  • Support and maintain Windows based servers.
  • Daily support of inbound incident volume, inbound calls, and other engagement vehicles.
  •  Troubleshoot and provide technical analysis concerning operating system, network, and application performance issues to resolution. Provide root cause analysis when needed.
  • Respond to customer requests for configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for infrastructure and business applications.
  • Operating system remediation according to risk standards.
  • Support patching, ticket queue maintenance, execution of change controls, anti-virus upgrades, and security remediation as needed.
  • Effective and timely communication with partners in regard to downtime, project updates, and troubleshooting progress
  • Maintain operating system and application software patch levels on all servers
  • Manage changing daily priorities based on classification and impact.
  • Provide detailed technical documentation as needed.
*Hours are 10 AM - 9 PM EST, Wednesday through Saturday*
*On-call support required on a rotation (NA only)

Do I Have an Edge Over Other Applicants?
Yes, if you carry the required experience in Automation (Power shell scripting) along with MS HA clustering and Veritas Software foundations and have experience supporting a large-scale Windows server environment.

  • Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge:
  • Experience with PowerShell v1-v4
  • Experience with interfacing PowerShell with SQL and Oracle databases.
  • Experience using regex and .net functions and framework.
  • Experience using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and Common Information Model (CIM).
  • Experience combining PowerShell with other languages/web and creating end user tools with accessible frontends.
  • Experience with monitoring and automation applications and runbook automation tools.
  • Experience writing scripts to perform remediation of hygiene, risk, audit and regulatory policy violations.
  • Experience creating tools to perform production readiness checks and automation of repeatable tasks.
  • 5-7 + years of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems Administration experience in a large enterprise environment.
  • Microsoft HA Windows Clustering and Veritas Software foundations skill set desired.
  • Well versed in TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, and Active Directory, with troubleshooting experience.
  • Proven experience supporting Enterprise class infrastructure
  • Experience supporting business critical application and infrastructure environments is required.
  • Must have production environment experience along with SDLC and Change Control processes experience
  • Excellent client interfacing skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills and ability to work with various levels of management.
  • Experience operating with colleagues across different time zones and flexibility in order to successfully interact and communicate on a global level.
    Intermediate knowledge:
    -       IIS 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.0
    -       VMWare technology and ESX server (and troubleshooting experience)
    -       Storage technologies and connectivity
    -       3rd party application software desirable (and troubleshooting experience)
    -       Symantec Anti-Virus Products
    -       Netbackup
    -       Windows Server Security and best practices
