The Enterprise Computing Services (ECS) organization within GTI plays a critical role in providing and supporting global enterprise systems that host business applications at the core of JPMorgan Chase's business.  These applications support the full range of businesses at the firm including wholesale, high volume consumer, and high net worth clients.  ECS provides and supports the global enterprise systems that host business applications at the core of JPMorgan Chase's business proposition. Platforms include zSeries mainframes; iSeries, Tandem and OVMS Large Midrange Systems; and, Managed File Transfer Services which provide cross-platform data movement services.  


The Mainframe Software Engineering team within ECS is a high-performance group, responsible for supporting the Infrastructure of Mainframe.  As the Mainframe Messaging & Engineering Architect for this group you will be responsible for the following core areas: Developing new infrastructure for supporting the enterprise systems that is in compliance with Operational, Risk, Resiliency and Data Center Standards; Software defined solutions that will enhance the speed to market of legacy systems; Deliver ingenuity and innovation in support of mainframe hardware and software; Support to ECS Production Operations, Architecture, Client Engagement and respective GTI organizations; Support and Engineering of MQ & IIB infrastructure on the mainframe platform.


Additional responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic direction of JPMC z/OS Messaging & Integration technologies.
  • Develop middleware integration standards and best practices for onboarding clients.
  • Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure architects on latest industry trends.
  • Guide MQ/IIB Engineering and Operate team practices in line with LOB goals.
  • Knowledge of the latest mainframe industry technologies and best practices.  
  • Ability to drive vendor direction to deliver solutions to JPMC needs.
  • Maintaining operational performance metrics and driving efficiency improvements.
  • Perform LOB project scoping, consultation and design deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Conduct software proof of concept and product evaluations in partnership with JPMC vendors.
  • Research emerging technology, industry practices and develop and maintain Roadmaps.
  • Serve as Point of Contact for Vendor relationships and engagement.
  • Working knowledge of highly available MQ & IIB sysplex environments.
  • Lead the global mainframe MQ/IIB Operate team on incident management, disaster recovery, sustained resiliency, LOB testing events and capacity planning requirements as needed.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in a middleware and/or application integration architecture.
  • 5+ Years MQ V7/V8/V9 experience on zSeries.
  • 5+ Years IIB and/or Message Broker experience on zSeries.
  • Experience with Scripting and Automating process and procedures.
  • Substantial direct hands-on experience performing MQ and IIB systems programming in a zSeries operating system environment involving maintenance/installation.
  • Experience with Unix Systems Services,  ACF2 / RACF security, JAVA and XML.
  • Financial services experience preferred.
  • Experience with in depth problem solving and analytical analysis.
