CFO for Chase Commerce Solutions (CSo) - Managing Director

Job Description

Chase Commerce Solutions is the global payment processing, merchant acquiring and offers business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. The business is comprised of Chase Paymentech, its global merchant acquiring business; Chase Pay, its proprietary online digital wallet; and ChaseNet, its customized closed-loop proprietary payments platform. Commerce Solutions is a leading provider of payment, fraud and data security for companies large and small and capable of authorizing transactions in more than 130 currencies. The business enables integrated solutions for all payment types, including credit, debit, prepaid stored-value and electronic check processing; as well as alternative and mobile.


  • Provide strategic direction, establish financial goals and support the control agenda for the is our growing payments and merchant services business,
  • Individual will provide critical decision support and ensure appropriate investment allocation to achieve short and long term financial and strategic goals across the Commerce Solutions business and other LOBs. 
  • Drive the establishment of compelling economics and share gain through pricing of deals, for start-up business.
  • Envision, design and implement the transfer pricing framework for the businesses.
  • Negotiate with senior level executives from key merchants and partners to drive world class economics.  Strategically thinking on the fly and in pressure situations.  Innovative thought leadership in building risk mitigation into complex partnerships contracts.   
  • Will manage the Sub Business Unit Finance Professionals – providing vision, direction and thought leadership.  Critical member of CSo leadership team.
  • Ensure LOB legal entity and tax matters handled appropriately and merchant tax set ups are correct.
  • Lead Forecasting, Planning and Analytics and Strategic Planning activities for the business.  Activities are inclusive of annual budget, monthly forecasting, CCAR processes as well as competitive analyses, linkages of profitability dynamics to deal negotiations and the evolving payments landscape.
  • Support a fast growing and rapidly changing business by developing insightful financial reporting and analyses to identify and size emerging trends, proactively addressing rapidly changing competitive and economic opportunities upon which we can capitalize.  Swift identification of emerging competitive threats and design of offensive and defensive maneuvers.
  • Design and develop financial reporting framework and key performance metrics for the business.
  • Partner across the JPMC CFO organization to understand and incorporate relevant strategic objectives for each business and determine how to achieve objectives via the contract with the merchants.  Objectives may include branch expansion, share shift, strategic partnerships, etc. Critical to lead and collaborate in cross-functional team efforts.  Deep understanding of the interplay of economic objectives across the firm is required.
  • Develop and lead cross-functional teams to execute key contract provisions.
  • Partner closely with the CSo leadership team to ensure that all are aligned with objectives, reporting is “best in class” and progress is measurable and quantifiable.
  • Guide, lead and support senior management decisions on various growth and profitability improvement initiatives
  • Provide ongoing coaching, development, direction to members of the finance team.  Define and incubate an opportunistic vision for the business.  Demonstrates mentorship and leadership to all team members and stakeholders.
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred but not essential.
  • Requires deep knowledge of the payments space, including competitive environment and emerging trends. 
  • Seeking strong business and financial acumen combined with the ability to build and leverage relationships across varied businesses, often with competing priorities that require objective facilitation towards solution.  
  • Prowess in navigating potentially conflicting interests and identifying win-win solutions for the firm will be critical for success. 
  • Track record of successfully facilitating dialogue with senior leaders, providing a point of view and navigating to common ground solutions while maintaining “buy-in” of all constituents.
  • Deep ability to collaborate and evidence of success collaborating and influencing senior leaders and peers constructively.
  • Ability to operate in a complex matrix environment is crucial with focus on having demonstrated this unique cultural ability in a large consumer oriented business.
  • Preferably 15+ years of financial analysis experience.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven ability to influence and engage senior leaders towards outcomes that balance not only financial mechanics, but enduring best practices.
  • Proven track record of delivering results
  • Proven negotiator with evidence of wins and losses whilst “building bridges”
  • Must have strong business knowledge overall, both within the payments and consumer/retail banking space as well as detailed knowledge of the business they support, strong decision making, leadership, management/negotiation, change management, organization, and communication (written and verbal).
