The Head of Engineering role is dedicated to advancing the security, quality and efficiency of the application development cycle across the Commercial Banking portfolio by aligning with Global Technology Chief Technology Office, and partnering with CB developers through innovation, best practices and firm wide standards.

Candidates must demonstrate a proven history of leading engineering transformation programs in a large and complex organization. This individual must possess excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to reach senior business management as well as technical audiences. The preferred candidate will have detail orientation, recent deep background in application development, be able to work independently to solve complex problems, focus on outcome instead of output, and still be technical yet possess the soft skills work with a variety of partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, executing, measuring, and reporting effort of agile transformation including 
    • Drive implementation of Agile as the preferred development methodology
    • Transform the organizational structure and culture to support Agile delivery
    • Conduct regular training and coaching engagements
    • Regularly assess the teams to monitor progress
  • Lead the planning, executing, measuring, and reporting effort of DevOps transformation including
    • Lead the CB Technology on implementation of processes and tools to reduce risk, increase efficiency through automation and improve code quality
    • Establish targets, enablement, and measures for code reviews, code quality, tool chain adoption of continuous integration, automated deployments, continuous Testing, code security and scanning programs
  • Align with Global Technology Tool Chain and framework effort to define, enable, and measure adoption target for end to end development lifecycle
  • Regularly provide health check status to leadership team and track progress towards CB and Firm-wide goals
  • Develop and measure engineering talent through training programs and objective metrics gathering
  • Enable the development community through published content to guide developers
  • Minimum 10+ years technology experience
  • Minimum 7+ years application development experience
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc
  • Experience in software tools and automation of development pipeline activities
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadline
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with developers, senior level personnel, subordinates, and team member
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global team
  • Ability to influence senior executive stakeholders to take action / facilitate buy-in of recommendations
  • Ability to work with a team of SMEs to assess needs, understand requirements, and syndicate solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients, senior executives, team members and peers
  • Experience in financial services industry preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; MBA or advanced degree preferred
