J.P. Morgan has the leading Global Credit Trading business in terms of volume traded, issuers traded and investor relationships. J.P. Morgan Global Credit Trading offers first-class, highly integrated financial services to a global client base and provides financial assets and liquidity for banks, insurance companies, finance companies, mutual funds and hedge funds. Traders, salespeople and research analysts work collectively to generate ideas and make secondary markets and proprietary investments in high grade bonds/CDS, high yield bonds/CDS, distressed bonds,  trade claims, indices, flow exotics, and illiquids. The business has generated substantial SVA in the last couple of years.


Global Syndicate works in partnership with origination, capital markets and the secondary credit trading desk to combine superior debt origination and structuring expertise with exceptional distribution and trading capabilities to a large investor base.


Role Description


Global Credit Trading is looking to hire a dynamic, self-motivated Vice President level Business Manager with specific responsibility for projects related to the ongoing US and European Financial Regulatory Reform agenda. Through their previous experience the individual would have gained the ability to effectively partner with and influence areas such as Operations, Technology, Finance, Clearinghouse Risk, Compliance, etc. It is a time-pressured and high-profile position which is instrumental in assisting/advising senior management and in coordinating the deployment of the bank’s corporate resources to address strategic and tactical objectives.

The role of a business manager is dynamic and can vary from business to business, in line with the priorities of the different lines of business. Functionally the role will report into the Global Credit Trading & Syndicate Business Management and the main aim of a Business Manager is to:

  • Act as trusted advisor and counterweight to Business Head(s)
  • Identify, escalate and mitigate business risks that could impair our ability to do business: e.g. legal, tax, regulatory, capacity issues, extraordinary transaction costs) 
  • Optimize 'bottom line' business performance by driving key initiatives (brokerage, fees, cost base, RWA and capital utilization)


Bond/ CDS Infrastructure Transformation:

  • Management from Global Credit Trading perspective of the implementation of a number of regulatory led projects relating to areas such as clearing, reporting/ transparency, and business conduct across the US and Europe, and across bonds and CDS.
  • Partnership with the business, Operations and Technology in the definition of future workflows and implementation of related technology and infrastructure projects to prepare the business to meet the requirements of an ever evolving market structure.
  • Partnership with the relevant external service/ infrastructure providers.
  • Business representation in respective internal/external working groups

The successful candidate will be able to work independently to identify and resolve business risks, partner effectively with the relevant Credit aligned support teams and other functional teams, and deliver projects efficiently.  We are looking for someone who has the following skills/qualities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or other related area
  • In depth understanding of the end-to-end flows and infrastructure of a derivatives and/ or securities business
  • Previous product knowledge, ideally in the Credit Markets area
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent partnership skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence a broad range of individuals across various businesses and key support functions
  • Ability to both define and deliver to conclusion a strategic agenda across multiple groups
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and within an environment of rapidly changing priorities
  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent time management/prioritization skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to analyze large data sets and present conclusions concisely
  • Attention to detail with logical thought process
  • Creative thinker with strategic mindset
