Data Center Services (DCS), part of Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI), is defined as the distributed, storage, IP network and Data Center services consumed by applications and enabling infrastructure in the Data Center. Data Center Services consolidate all logical and physical activities performed across Data Center Operations, and most
of Global Network Services and Distributed Technology Services.
 
The Data Center Tech Lead sets the standards for professional knowledge and growth for engineers and the department. They are responsible for coordinating with the SDM and Site Lead for the training and development of all site technicians and for involvement in major infrastructure projects. Although the technical lead does not have direct reports, they provide feedback to the Site Manager regarding development, interaction, and professional expertise and conduct of all team members.  This position will act as a technical member of the Data Center Operations Team. The primary focus of this position is to assist the Site Manager with the development of data center expansion, optimization and other related change efforts, via the application of data center Design & Engineering principles.  Other duties may include a combination of data center technology systems administration, monitoring and management, as well as process automation.  Technical leadership in an advanced data center environment is essential.  Mentoring junior staff, troubleshooting and problem resolution and - Performs quality assurance review on project implementations to ensure high level of standards are being met
- Coordinate and support large complex data center installations
- Contribute to the development of training curriculum for Data Center Site Engineers covering JPMC processes and
procedures
- Drive and collaborate for continual data center optimization and service improvement
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
- Backup other leads in their duties, when required
- Apply Design & Engineering principles to better match future Data Center Strategies
- Ensure all requested work is completed within agreed upon deliverable dates
- Collaborate closely with the site and provisioning engineers to resolve technical issues
- 1st hand server-class hardware build experience.
- Operational experience in a large-scale data center.
- Understanding of network and administration concepts
- Familiarity with infrastructure applications (DNS, etc.)
- Advanced documentation skills
- Storage networking experience
- Past service provider engineering experience
- Capable of optimizing process for maximum efficiency
- Self-starter with positive attitude, possess strong sense of urgency, and is a clear-thinker able to perform under
pressure.
- A record of strong applied knowledge of Design & Engineering principles to Data Center Strategies to include:
                - Data Center power systems, including utility, UPS, switching gear knowledge
                - Data Center cooling systems, including air flow containment, monitoring and optimization
                - Data Center infrastructure data cabling including fiber, copper, structured and patching
- Strong experience with large scale data center builds
- Strong experience working with DC build general and sub-contractors and vendors
- Strong experience working with corporate real estate staff and processes
- Strong experience with Aperture data center tools
- Strong experience working with Data Center build teams
- Very strong written and verbal communications skills
- Good Project Management skills
- Management Reporting Experience
- Strong understanding of DC standards and their development
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to policy and procedures development.
