Plastics Fraud Strategy Team Risk Analyst

Job Description

The Risk Analyst will be part of the Plastics Fraud Strategy team.  This team is responsible for the development and implementation of risk initiatives. The responsibilities of this position include: understanding strategies/opportunities in cross-functional risk teams such as Credit Card, Online Banking, Claims, and Telephone Banking etc. to manage and control the risk around Debit Card and Claims Fraud. The analyst would also be responsible for evaluation and enhancement of fraud detection and prevention strategies, enhancing process automation through analytics, strategy implementation, subject matter expertise on initiatives related to the advancement of risk infrastructure/capability. This role will require frequent interaction and communication with cross-functional partners and presentation to managers and executives. The successful candidate will excel at creative thinking and problem solving, be self-motivated, confident and ready to work in a fast-paced energetic environment.

Expectations for this individual include, but are not limited to:

  • Interpret large amounts of complex data to formulate problem statement, concise conclusions regarding underlying risk dynamics, trends, and opportunities
  • Develop, communicate, and implement optimal fraud prevention strategies (including rules, cutoffs, policies, operational flows, etc.)
  • Identify key risk indicators and metrics, develop key metrics, enhance reporting, and identify new areas of analytic focus to better capture fraud.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on strategy implementation/testing and initiatives related to the improvement of risk mitigation processes and infrastructure
  • Identify, evaluate and leverage external data sources and analytical solutions to enhance risk strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to understand and address key business challenges


    • Education:
      • Bachelor's degree in an analytic discipline (Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics).
        • Preference given to candidates with a graduate degree.
    • Experience:
      • 1-3 years professional experience. 
        • Preference given to those with risk management background.
    • Skills:
      • Demonstrated experience with SAS to perform data management, data analyses, financial analyses, designing & analyzing experiments, and building statistical model and analytically derived decision trees.
      • Must have passion for data manipulation and deriving meaningful information from it.
      • Candidate must possess intellectual curiosity to learn about the debit card and claims fraud space.
      • Candidate must be able to execute against multiple deliverables with minimal guidance.
      • Proficient in Excel, Word, Office, etc.
      • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
      • Good written and oral communication skills.
      • Ability to work in a large corporate environment, demonstrating a history of being effective in a complex organization.
      • Ability to work in a fast pace environment, and react to changes efficiently.
      • Must be able to take a balanced approached to solving business issues, carefully weighing tradeoffs between losses, revenue, overall profitability, and delivering an exceptional experience for Chase customers.
