Corporate Finance – Firmwide Legal Entity Strategy and Simplification Vice President

Job Description

The Bank Controller function was established in mid 2013 and is dedicated to supporting the Bank’s end to end agenda and includes managing the firm’s legal entity strategy (i.e. structure) and related governance.  

The firm’s legal entity structure has evolved as a result of a number of drivers including product permissibility, local regulation/licensing, mergers, and the facilitation of business activities.  As part of the regulatory and controls agenda, the firm has established a legal entity simplification strategy to reduce unnecessary complexity and risk while also maximizing the alignment of legal entities and business lines.  The development, review and execution of this strategy is managed on an end to end basis by the Legal Entity Strategy and Simplification Group, which consists of senior representatives across functions and business lines.    


The Vice President will have responsibilities including the following:

  • Supporting the development of a firmwide legal entity end state strategy that rationalizes the current structure and reduces operational and inter-entity complexities
  • Aligning (where applicable) the strategy to the firm’s and business’ strategic priorities, the existing LOB level LE simplification programs, and Recovery and Resolution planning efforts
  • Executing, with LOB and functional partners, of the firm’s legal entity end state strategy
  • Evaluating the use/purpose of the firm’s legal entities based on a consistent set of criteria
  • Developing and enhancing metrics and reporting to measure and track success
  • Supporting the preparation of materials for the Legal Entity Strategy and Simplification Group
  • Training, developing and coaching junior resources

  • Demonstrated history of analysis of information with superior attention to detail
  • Outstanding ability to communicate (written, verbal, presentation skills) effectively with peers and senior management
  • Experience working on multiple, complex projects with a sense of urgency that drives decision making
  • Strong project management skills
  • Team player with ability to build strong cross-business and cross-functional relationships – proven flexibility, adaptability and reliability
  • Broad knowledge of financial services businesses and products as well as related functional areas (Treasury, Tax, Legal, etc.)
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools as well as other industry (e.g. Bloomberg) and market data tools.
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
