Capital Management is a firmwide function in the Firm’s Treasury and Chief Investment Office (CIO) organization within Corporate Finance.  Global Treasury/CIO is responsible for the Funding and Liquidity risk management of the firm worldwide as well as managing the structural Interest Rate Risk of firm across a wide range of asset classes, with the main hubs being located in London, New York and Hong Kong.
The Capital Management group oversees the risk-weighted asset (RWA) and capital measurement processes across the firm, and helps ensure efficient and appropriate management of our capital.   The team oversees and coordinates across established teams in Finance, Risk and Regulatory Policy.  The team's scope includes policy interpretation, oversight of implementation changes, dialogue with regulators on RWA calculations and model changes, reporting and establishing RWA limits and managing the firm's capital stress testing processes.  Its mandate includes determining the appropriate investment in people and technology to improve the accuracy and timeliness of RWA calculations as well as the implementation of new rules and guidelines as they are made public. 
The Corporate Capital Stress Testing team (CCST) is responsible for managing the firmwide capital stress testing processes.  As the owner of the Firm’s internal capital adequacy assessment (ICAAP) as well as the Federal Reserve-mandated Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR), the team partners with lines of business (LOB) and Finance and Risk management functions across the Firm to prepare JPMC’s Capital Plan to demonstrate capital strength under stress conditions in order to distribute capital in the coming year.  In addition, the team is responsible for the capital analysis required to support the Firm’s Annual Recovery and Resolution Plans. The team is also responsible for managing the Firm’s communications with regulators on capital planning and stress testing, including providing feedback to Federal agencies on new regulatory requirements.  
The individual will be a member of the Capital Adequacy Planning & Analysis team within Corporate Capital Stress Testing and will contribute to the development of global standards for capital stress testing across the Firm. The individual will partner with colleagues in Corporate Finance, Risk functions and the line of business areas. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Key contributor in the development and implementation of the Firm’s global standards for capital stress testing  
  • Develop an understanding of JPM’s regulatory requirements and processes
  • Lead ad-hoc analytical requests from senior management, other functions, and regulatory agencies
  • Drive initiatives to continually improve and enhance existing processes
  • Support the build-out / automation of capital stress testing tools, as applicable 
The position offers good visibility into strategic capital management initiatives as well as the unique opportunity to understand Firm initiatives from a firmwide perspective.  The team has significant visibility to senior management as the projects are regularly used by senior management in their discussions with the Operating Committee, the Board of Directors and the Firm’s regulators.  


  • The candidate must be a self starter who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a finance, capital management, control, or risk function preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
  • Knowledge of balance sheet, income statement and basic accounting concepts preferred
  • Prior regulatory capital experience (e.g. Basel I/II/III) preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and be hands on in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure
  • A detail oriented problem solver with proven ability to evaluate processes, controls and issues to determine and assess risks
  • Creative self starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel & PowerPoint in particular)
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred
