Business Description:
The position is within the Financial Reporting Regulatory department of Finance. The group is a service-orientated business comprised of specialised individuals with knowledge and expertise in understanding, managing and delivering financial information to our regulators.  The group is also dedicated to adding value and improving efficiency, quality and controls.
The Regulatory function within the UK EMEA space is changing rapidly to accommodate both internal and external drivers of change: for example – business engagement and understanding of legal entity strategy, implementation of regulator driven financial/statistical reporting changes etc.
The regulatory finance department is a high profile function, providing financial information to the Prudential Regulation Authority (“PRA”), Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) and Bank of England (BOE). The production responsibilities within UK Regulatory Reporting are split into two main areas: Capital Reporting and Financial Reporting.
Financial Reporting Group
The core responsibilities of the Financial Reporting Group are:
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and biannual returns for JP Morgan Europe Limited (JPMEL), JPMorgan International Bank (JPMIB), JPMorgan Securities Plc (JPMS Plc) and JPMorgan Chase Bank London (JPMCB).
  • Interpretation of the Regulatory rules which forms the basis of Bank of England and PRA reporting, and providing regulatory guidance to the business.
  • Partnership across Finance areas (e.g. UK legal entity controllers, Recovery and resolution team, Liquidity) to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial reporting to the regulator. 
Capital Reporting Group
The core responsibilities of the Capital Reporting Group are:
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and biannual returns for the following solo regulated entities and their associated UK consolidation groups: JPMorgan Securities Plc (JPMS Plc), JP Morgan Europe Limited (JPMEL), JPMorgan Markets Limited (JPMML), JPMorgan International Bank (JPMIB)
  • Daily monitoring and preparation of capital adequacy and large exposures reports for the above entities
  • Interpretation of the Regulatory rules which forms the basis of PRA reporting and providing regulatory guidance to the business
  • Partnership and supporting other Finance areas with their reporting requirements (e.g. recovery and resolution, ICAAP)
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities: -
  • Oversight and review of the firm’s statistical reporting requirements to the Bank of England and financial reporting requirements to the PRA (FinRep and FSA) for UK regulated legal entities.
  • Maintain strong regulator relationship management including timely responses on reporting queries and providing feedback at Bank of England statistical reporting forums.
  • Enhancing the control framework for the Financial reporting team over reconciliations, break resolution/investigation and driving the function to being ‘best in class’ for evidencing of completeness and accuracy of reporting.
  • Work with senior managers to highlight and resolve control issues using the UK Regulatory Reporting Completeness and Accuracy Standards
  • Focus on driving process efficiency – including proactive challenging and constructive feedback to improve processes in the Axiom operating model.
  • Partner with the UK Legal Entity controllers and UK Regulatory Capital Reporting teams  to ensure consistency/stronger legal entity reporting and improve line of business engagement.
  • Work with local Regulatory Project team on new releases and assist the London team with review of trade flows for new business initiatives.
  • Managing a team of 7 in London with matrix reporting oversight responsibilities for 10 in Mumbai.
  • Maintain strong cross-location partnership with the Mumbai Regulatory teams reinforcing our focus on people, technical expertise and transparency of BAU processes.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both internal and external forums.
  • Managerial experience ideally managing cross-location teams required
  • Strong control background with proven delivery of improvements
  • Familiarity with financial reporting concepts (US GAAP/UK GAAP) and reporting requirements (FinRep/BoE statistical reporting) would be desirable but is not essential  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel, Access, Outlook, Word and Powerpoint
  • Degree qualification and either accountancy qualification or qualification by experience within Financial Services industry
  • Good understanding of investment banking products including derivatives / financing transactions.
