Business Background

The Global Fixed Income Securities Cash Middle Office is primarily responsible for the trade management, risk management and control of both the standard and non standard elements of the business. Products include:
  • Mortgage Backed Securities and Whole Loans
  • Asset Backed Securities and Loans
  • Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities and Loans
  • Synthetic Asset/Commercial Backed Securities (Credit Default Swaps)

Role Summary  
As a Global Emerging Markets Trade Support Associate, your primary responsibilities include trade capture, trade management, Risk and P&L production, validation, and explanation for a variety of products; focus on the emerging markets.  The Trade Support unit is responsible for the strict control of trades booked, liaising with internal departments and escalating to management where appropriate. Trade support works independently from the Front Office and are key to the control of our business ensuring the highest level of quality is achieved at all times. In addition, The IBSO GEM Trade support team focuses on the trade flow post deal execution for the Global Emerging businesses. The team is divided into sections specific to the lines of business and has many responsibilities. Daily the team will investigate and resolve trading queries for the Bonds, Repo’s and secondary traded products, Futures, Options & FX. Part of the Investment Bank Middle Office & Operations the team communicates with partners locally, regionally & globally and works through a variety of mediums with the goal of maximising the settlement efficiency and delivery to our counterparties.  
Main responsibilities
  • Provide Middle office /operational support for the Global Financing Desk (GEM); Product coverage focused on emerging markets.
  • Trade investigations for bonds booked across Voice and E Traded systems.
  • Fails management – Identify all fails reasons and liaise with settlement teams and clients to ensure they are resolved in a timely fashion. Escalate to Front Office teams in accordance with their preferences. Distribute daily fail reports to clients as requested.
  • Close coordination with other support groups, such as front office and sales support and settlement groups to resolve potential settlement issues.
  • Ensure continuity of daily trade processing to allow for greater STP and exception queue monitoring such as client and issue reference data and cash accruals.
  • Ensuring accurate trade capture, pnl and risk representation on T. Ongoing trade lifecycle/maintenance.
  • Constant review of end to end process to identify controls gaps and implement remediation plans
  • Engaging partners in technology & execute teams to deliver key tactical and strategic initiatives
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Fixed Income product knowledge preferred
  • Excellent communication – Much of the role requires dialogue with Trading desks, operations and 3rd parties on a local and regional level
  • Able to identify and resolve issues with minimum supervision
  • Self motivated with good interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self starting team player who is creative and reliable
  • Extremely detail oriented and Controls focused
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude
  • Adaptability to learn new tasks & demonstrate willingness to understand the detail of a process
  • Understanding of the transaction flow: Ability to look at the overall process and explain it to others
  • Strong time management: organization skills and prioritization of tasks, setting own deadlines and working to defined targets
  • The daily tasks will involve using several applications as well as the standard desktop so must have an aptitude to learn multiple systems
