Business Area

The Finance function of J.P. Morgan provides an ideal opportunity to increase Analysts’ understanding of global finance. Our Finance teams play an essential role in every business, combining well-developed performance measurement processes with sophisticated analysis methods, including economic capital measurement. Program Overview

Joining our Finance Analyst Development Program will position you as a strategic partner across all of our businesses and functional areas. Through this two-year rotational program, you will be exposed to diverse finance assignments that offer a hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to make real contributions to business decisions. Working closely with experienced senior managers, you will analyze results and offer insights across performance, strategy, control issues and operating models.

Roles and Responsibilities

Outlined below are samples of opportunities offered by our program, designed to increase your understanding of global finance and help you develop into an active contributor to the firm.

  • Financial Control: Responsible for reconciliation and substation of accounts, weekly and monthly profit and loss reconciliations and position reconciliations, validate and report financial data while adhering to internal control standards; ensure overall integrity and validity of financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; work to enhance the efficiency and control of the financial reporting process.
  • External Reporting: Responsible for preparing external reporting requirements to various agencies such as the Securities Exchange Commission, Federal Reserve, and the Office of the Comptroller of Currency; collecting internal disclosures, consolidating data, performing data quality checks; implementing new reporting requirements as well as streamlining and improving financial reporting processes.
  • Governance & Program Management: Provide program management and project execution support for Corporate & Investment Bank wide and Finance specific business and technology change programs, including governance, planning, stakeholder management, communication management, issue management, requirements management, testing and design.
  • Business Management: Analyze business information, mitigate business risks and optimize performance by driving key initiatives; work on project execution; conduct strategic analysis by leveraging business knowledge and technical analysis.



Training and Development

The firm provides Analysts with robust training and professional development opportunities, including:

  • Induction Training: At the beginning of the two-year program, Analysts are provided program-specific training designed to further develop analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Training includes a comprehensive overview of JPMorgan Chase and the Finance function as well as accounting and financial statement analysis 
  • Ongoing Exposure to Senior Leadership: During the two-year program, Analysts will participate in dedicated speaker sessions with senior Finance managers, who will share their professional experiences and discuss the industry’s immediate and future challenges
  • Networking and Mentorship: At the beginning of the program, Analysts are assigned a peer mentor, as well as invited to participate in various networking events designed to expose different Finance managers and teams


We seek highly motivated college students who are eager to build a long-term career within the firm’s Finance organization. Ideal candidates exhibit a demonstrated interest in corporate finance, the financial services industry and our firm.


Additional qualifications include:

  • Expected graduation date from August 2014 to June 2015
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0+
  • Finance, Accounting or Economics majors preferred
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Basic understanding of financial statements, accounting procedures, internal and external reporting and variance analysis
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
