Regulatory Capital Management Office, Basel Measurement & Analytics - Wholesale Products, Analyst/Associate

Job Description

The Basel Measurement and Analytics group within Regulatory Capital Management Office (RCMO) produces firm-wide credit risk regulatory capital results on a monthly basis. The team oversees the implementation and reporting infrastructure enhancements of Basel 3 requirements. The team is also responsible for Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) for regulators and ad-hoc requests from senior management. The group works closely with Model Risk and Development (MRaD) to understand risk parameter methodology and Regulatory Policy on rule interpretation.  The position interfaces with LOB controllers to support the forecasting and attestation of risk-weighted assets (RWA) for the Wholesale Traditional Credit Products (TCP) portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Calculate, analyze, and report Basel 3 RWA for the TCP portfolio
  • Partner with LOB Controllers and Risk Management to investigate and determine key drivers of quarterly RWA variances such as portfolio changes, policy updates and capital treatment
  • Perform impact analysis on methodology enhancements and rule changes
  • Identify, track, and resolve credit risk data quality issues; Work towards streamlining and improving processes
  • Drive implementation of policy and model updates to the Basel 3 rule engine
  • Establish and enhance controls and procedures for the team


  • Bachelor Degree required (Finance, Economics major preferred); advanced degree a plus; FRM certification a plus


  • 3-5 years experience in Finance, Risk Management, or related field

  • Experience in credit risk management or reporting

  • Experience in a production or operations environment preferred

  • Experience with Basel regulatory capital rules preferred

  • Experience driving large initiatives across multiple functional groups


  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, able to work independently

  • Excellent organizational skills and control focus

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Superior attention to detail and process-orientation

  • Expert in Microsoft Access and Excel required

  • Knowledge of Balance Sheet

  • Knowledge of functionality and books on General Ledger preferred

  • Knowledge of Basel III rules a plus
