The objective of the COO Financial Analytics is to provide financial analyses on a variety of strategic topics to JPMC’s Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and senior management in the Corporate Sector. The team focuses on executing select high-visibility projects requiring partnership and buy-in from senior management across LOBs and Functions. In addition, the team supports the efforts of Strategic Expense Management, which is tasked with leading the end-to-end firmwide expense initiatives, ensuring the right controls and governance frameworks are in place around firmwide expenses, and generating ideas round efficiency and productivity improvements. Finally, COO Financial Analytics identifies, manages and executes high-value add deals and partnerships with 3rd parties and other financial institutions, which promote cost savings, leading technologies, efficient execution of regulatory requirements, and the creation of new and impactful business opportunities in the industry.

 

The team is small and nimble, allowing for senior management exposure at all levels, and the opportunity to take a leadership role on various projects. Majority of team has prior experience in Investment Banking or Strategy Consulting. The team offers a great platform for highly motivated and self-directed individuals to accelerate their career. Candidates with less experience need to have very strong analytical background and experience in Investment Banking or Consulting and this opportunity would offer them excellent preparation for a pursuit of an advanced business degree (e.g., MBA) through highly strategic work.

 

The ideal candidate will have approximately 1-3 years’ experience in finance or accounting with an emphasis on analytical work. Building on their prior experience, the candidate would have strong intellectual curiosity and would be looking for a position with a strong strategic focus.

  • Undergraduate degree; sciences, economics, engineering, or finance preferred
  • Top-tier MBA highly preferred but not required
  • Computer literacy skills (Advanced Excel, Advanced PowerPoint, Access, Word)
  • Prior experience in consulting or investment banking (coverage or product) highly preferred
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Experience analyzing large amounts of data; ability to gather data from various systems, manipulate it and produce meaningful reports and analyses and draw conclusions
  • Excellent modeling skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to pick up new concepts with strong desire and ability to learn extremely quickly
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior management
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Strong work ethic, team player and intellectual curiosity
  • Knowledge of Hyperion/Essbase, SAP and technical adaptability would be a plus
