We are seeking a Java application developer with strong business-driven development quality assurance experience to implement and oversee best practices across multiple application development teams within the Investment Management Core Operations Technology group.  The candidate will initially focus on guiding the various teams through a transition to business processes and other best practices and will focus on overseeing these efforts once implemented.  The candidate must have a strong application development background with a full understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), architecture, and design practices.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, analyzes, develops, codes, writes unit tests, debugs and documents programming to satisfy business requirements for large, complex projects.
  • Work as part of a Scrum team to deliver technology solutions in an Agile fashion including but not limited to sprint planning, complexity analysis, standup calls, and sprint retrospectives.
  • Adheres to architecture standards, risk management and security policies.
  • Deliver on J2EE and RDBMS based technologies for the Operations business
  • Design the technical architecture for new applications and changes to existing applications including class diagrams/object modeling, data modeling, and system interfaces.
  • Translate functional specifications into technical specifications to support  application builds.
  • Perform application development build tasks and perform application coding in J2EE and RDBMS technologies along with select vendor applications.
  • Communicate timely build status on development items to management team, as well as raise/work to resolve issues impacting development.
  • Assist in third level support of applications once delivered into Production.

Qualifications

  • 6 plus years of experience with Java/J2EE programming, related technologies and the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Hands-on experience with Business-Driven Development (BDD) QA best practices, unit testing, and related tools including Cucumber
  • Strong experience with messaging (e.g. MQ)
  • Working knowledge of Tomcat/Apache and WebSphere application servers
  • Knowledge of standard build and deployment tools such as Eclipse, Maven, Subversion, Ant, and Jira
  • Experience with database development and design including experience with Oracle and/or Sybase
  • Demonstrated experience with OO design patterns/frameworks, including application integration frameworks
  • Ability to multi-task and engage productively on multiple projects simultaneously
  • College degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, or equivalent major
