S&PI - Senior Associate

Overview:

S&PI is a dedicated internal consulting group with a mandate to help business, operational, and support functions make decisions that result in operating and bottom-line improvements. The group is made up of a central team (Core S&PI), a functionally-aligned team (Global Technology S&PI), and business-aligned teams (Asset Management S&PI, Consumer & Community Banking S&PI, and Commercial Banking S&PI), often working in partnership with Core Strategy teams. S&PI projects are team-based, follow a hypothesis-driven, fact-based approach and cover topics such as: Operations Strategy, Operating Models, Business/Function Transformation, Strategic Planning, Organization Design & Governance, and Capability Build-out.

 

The ability to solve critical business problems along with the diversity and backgrounds of individuals distinguish S&PI from other areas of the Firm. Typical project teams comprise of 2-6 members, most of whom are former management consultants from top consulting firms (McKinsey, BCG, Booz&Co., etc.). Projects are usually 4 to 16 weeks long, depending on complexity and scope.

 

Responsibilities:

Client Leadership

  • Advise and influence senior leaders and business executives on key business decisions and major change initiatives
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders
  • Lead interview campaigns, working sessions, and senior client presentations

 

Thought Leadership

  • Partner with project team members to develop frameworks and insights to address key process improvement, organizational change, and functional strategy development efforts
  • Design, structure, and “own” quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Identify major issues and actionable opportunities, design solutions, and quantify potential bottom-line financial impact
  • Synthesize impactful findings, develop recommendations, and help present  recommendations to senior management

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead one or more workstreams, potentially including managing analysts
  • Develop junior team members informally, including serving as a mentor

 

  • MBA or an advanced degree from a top-tier program is preferable
  • 1-3 years consulting experience with a top-tier management consulting firm or an internal consulting/corporate strategy team
  • Strong client management and executive-level communication skills
  • Ability to structure a variety of problems and apply analytical tools to develop solutions
  • Financial services background is preferred, but not mandatory
