The successful candidate will manage documentation projects from initiation to completion, analyzing the request and the scope of work, developing comprehensive content recommendations, time lines, and strategic planning documents; upon client commitment, the writer will work individually or as part of a writing team to document and publish standard operating procedures for Operations employees. We expect all writers to be flexible and competent in a fast-paced, deadline-driven corporate environment.
In addition to the routine writer requirements, we are also looking to hire for skill gaps that have arisen and are arising within the team. Particular gaps we need to close are in:
· Technical expertise with SharePoint design and troubleshooting
· Technical aptitude with Document Management Tool functionality for current state and an unknown future state as Livelink is being decommissioned; to comprehend and anticipate implications and to make recommendations to close gaps,
Finally we need to improve the Documentation Team’s bench strength in terms of a very strong individual who has a wealth of experience with the documentation life cycle, a strong understanding of the bank in general and CCB/CTO in particular, and who is a proven leader who may be groomed for future Business Continuity needs.
The Technical Writers on this team:
§ Analyze work requests and develop strategic plans to execute on those requests
§ Provide writing/editing support to CTO lines of business
§ Create procedures from multiple resources, including but not limited to, documentation provided by the lines of business, process mapping, SME interviews and job shadowing, and other types of material
§ Partner with Subject Matter Experts to ensure that procedures accurately reflect current processes established within each department
§ Ensure procedures accurately reflect corporate policy
§ Maintain on-line repository, posting new/updated procedures as needed
§ Demonstrate ability to work individually and as a part of a team, displaying and demonstrating the organization’s shared values
§ Develop, manage, and execute a documentation project from initiation through delivery
§ Provide consulting and manage relationships with a variety of internal clients and partners
Competitive candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
§ Associate’s degree and a minimum of two years experience in the Technical Communications field writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
NOTE: A Bachelors degree in communication, education or business is preferred
§ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
§ Ability to work effectively within an environment of conflicting priorities demands
§ Quick learner; must be able to quickly grasp the mechanics of a job function and synthesize the new knowledge into existing parameters
§ Accuracy and attention details while maintaining an understanding of the big picture
§ Ability to exercise judgment and discretion
§ Strong relationship-building skills
§ Strong analysis, project planning, time management, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
§ Previous experience with Document Management Systems.
§ Solid understanding of structured writing techniques, templates, style guides, and file management
§ Ability to travel 15% - 25% of the time.
