J.P. Morgan’s Firm wide Oversight and Control (O&C) was designed to ensure a strong and consistent control environment across the organization from front office to back office, regardless of line of business or functional area. With Control Officers appointed for each Line of Business, Function and Region, O&C has a comprehensive coverage/accountability model that promotes firm wide dialogue and consistency in approach and solutions.


Oversight & Control’s guiding principles are to:

  • Establish appropriate and meaningful controls and operational risk measures across the firm
  • Execute robust, enterprise-wide governance and oversight of the end-to-end control environment.

This position falls under the RCSA Central Team, which provides oversight of J.P. Morgan’s firm wide Risk Control Self-Assessment (“RCSA”) program and strategic direction on J.P. Morgan’s RCSA tool. 


The O&C Risk Assessments Associate will be responsible for supporting various tactical and strategic initiatives, including the implementation of FORCE (J.P. Morgan’s Op Risk tool), analyzing RCSA related data, supporting LOBs with RCSA related matters, improving the Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA) framework and integrating other risk assessment tools into a sustainable operating model that reduces duplication, improves efficiency and produces optimal results.   


The O&C Risk Assessments Associate will work closely with the RCSA Central Team’s Program delivery and Strategic Assessments groups and partner closely with second and third line of defense groups, on various RCSA related programs sponsored by Oversight & Control.


Position Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for RCSA leads throughout the business and region

  • Partner and develop a positive working relationship with Control Team members and other business partners to maintain an open environment for collaboration, risk identification, and remediation

  • Partner and develop a working relationship with Corporate Operational Risk (COR) Team, Controls Room Team and FORCE Implementation team on RCSA Program Execution

  • Provide cross-functional support on initiatives managed by other members of the RCSA team including Governance, Reporting, and FORCE support

  • Support other groups within the Corporate Central RCSA team to ensure timely delivery of inquiries requested by LOBs/Functions

The ideal candidate will be expected to have the following qualities:

  •  Possess a firm understanding of risk assessment frameworks / tools / methodologies (e.g. RCSA)
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with at least 5 years experience in financial services (minimum 3 years in a role with oversight and controls, operational risk management, audit, compliance, or controls).

  • Strong knowledge of risk management and internal control principles required.

  • Strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver results

  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment; providing oversight and directly influencing change

  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation, and sense of urgency

  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.  Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders

  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills: Takes ownership and is accountable for area of responsibility

  • Proactive approach to problem solving, owning the issues and having the determination to follow tasks/issues through

  • Excellent prioritization and time management

  • Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills

  • Work independently as well as part of a team
