Corporate Technology & Risk (CTR) – The Corporate Technology and Risk organization delivers streamlined and consistent solutions supporting JPMorgan Chase’s Controls, Compliance, Legal, HR and IT Risk agendas, with a focus on stability, delivery, efficiencies and people. The goal of CTR’s drive to standardization, consistency and simplicity is a JPMorgan Chase architecture that fosters long-term productivity, quality and innovation across the entire enterprise. The disciplines within this organization are Compliance Technology, Oversight & Controls Technology, Legal & e-Discovery, Identity & Access Management, IT Risk & Controls, HR Real Estate & Global Services Technology, and Third Party Risk Management. 

 

The Cognos Applications Developer will be responsible for design and implementation of reporting solutions capable of handling large amounts of unstructured data, to identify, develop, and create new strategic IT Risk business opportunities. This role will involve implementing an effective strategy based on professional expertise and defining reporting approaches, requirements review, report design, report development, and unit testing.

 

This position requires a sound understanding of Business Intelligence best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language (SQL) skills, data warehouse and reporting techniques, and most importantly, expertise in Cognos reporting capabilities and implementations.

 

The Cognos Applications Developer is responsible for the successful delivery of BI information to the entire organization and is experienced in BI development and implementations, data architecture and data warehousing. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Creating reporting solutions to solve specific customer requirements
  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert and advising customers in the best reporting options and solutions
  • Supporting implementation of BI solutions by: monitoring and tuning queries and data loads, addressing user questions concerning data integrity, monitoring performance and communicating functional and technical issues
  • Working with project teams to ensure technical quality of deliverables and adherence to the SDLC and architectural standards

Key Qualifications:

  • Must have a sound understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language (SQL) skills, and data warehousing
  • Possesses a working knowledge of applications and their development throughout all phases of the lifecycle
  • 5-10 years of experience with Cognos implementations, including environment, reporting design, and support
  • 3-5 years of experience with data warehousing
  • 5-10 years of relational database design and reporting experience
  • 5-10 years of experience with analyzing business MIS requirements
  • Experience working with QlikView/QlikSense is also considered a plus
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and techniques.
  • Must have the ability to work in a complex data environment as well as the ability to partner with the business and IT to find creative data solutions to business problems.
  • Must possess the ability to work and research/resolve issues independently while sharing best practices and knowledge with colleagues & team members
  • Must be able to communicate complex issues in a crisp and concise fashion to multiple levels of management.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; and demonstrated ability to interact with technical, non-technical, and business members of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field with preferred focus on Information Systems.
