JPMorgan Intelligent Solutions (JPMIS) is a new group considering ways to transform and leverage JPM proprietary data assets into opportunities for JPM.  Protecting and managing intellectual property effectively as well as utilizing it to develop solutions that are both customized and scalable will enable JPM to create additional shareholder value.

The Product Manager is a key role in JPMIS, possessing the entrepreneurial savvy & commercial instincts to innovate& manage JPMIS products across their entire life cycle - from conception through launch.  The Product Manager is inspired by the Data Economy and the opportunity to create solutions based on the firm’s information and analytic resources that enable end users to make better decisions.  The Product Manager will collaborate closely with the Lines of Business and other key members of the JPMIS Wholesale Product Management team in order to deliver products that are great, memorable and contribute to the firm’s business objectives.  The Product Manager will also closely interact with others in the overall JPMIS team including Data Usage, Legal & Privacy, Data Operations, and Risk/Compliance to advance the product from conception to launch to ongoing production.

 

Key Product Manager Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Discover & validate market problems that provide substantial commercial opportunity & advantage for JPMC
  • Prioritize new market opportunities.  Own flow of prioritized opportunities through JPMIS development process
  • Develops & owns the business plan over the life of the product
    • Owns product vision, commercial opportunity definition and unique value proposition
    • Prioritizes target market, buyer personas & user personas within target market
    • Ensures alignment with JPMC/JPMIS strategy
    • Creates business plan – ensures financial reporting systems can measure results
    • Manages to business plan – recalibrates as market conditions dictate.
  • Approves, prioritizes and owns product/business requirements definition (across full life cycle) – substantial input from others on the team as well as close collaboration with potential users, buyers and other key internal/external constituents.
  • Determines and owns pricing and promotion plan for products in their area of responsibility
    • Determines pricing and service tiers – in concert with finance.
    • Determines go to market, including release timing, content and marketing – in concert with product marketing
  • Determines and owns the operating plan – KPIs, sourcing, key phases/exit criteria, governance & risk optimization
  • Extensive collaboration with Technology, Application Development, Analytics, Operations, Risk/Compliance, Legal and Sales/Marketing  
  • Responsible for developing all artifacts required for internal approvals and driving the process forward
  • Responsible for keeping information JPMIS content on the web and SharePoint sites fresh, with particular attention to artifacts required for Risk and Compliance
Key Qualifications to be considered for this role:
  • Keen commercialization instincts as a product manager or line executive in an innovation-oriented data/analytics/research oriented business (minimum 7+ year’s experience).  Highly valued experience includes:
    • Assessment/prioritization of competing marketplace opportunities against short & long-term objectives (particularly effective managing the scale & profitability tradeoff)
    • Agile/iterative approach to requirements gathering, development & servicing
    • Freemium business models, and related skill in creating effective service/pricing packages
    • Experience creating multi-sided business models, partner ecosystems or platform businesses
    • Experience inside & outside financial service industry
  • Product commercialization experience, with particular emphasis on launching new products that convert data into insight that is, in turn, embedded deeply in user workflow (minimum 5+ years).  Highly valued experience includes:
    • Design & launch of solutions that solve big persistent problems in a compelling way
    • User-oriented design that delivers products that are beautifully functional
    • Products that engender customer trust & value (including the development of an online user community)
    • Working with partners to build/distribute solutions (where partners supply data or serve as primary sales/service channel)
  • A genuine passion, curiosity & determination for the possibilities of the Data Economy
