Position Summary
The Loan Processor is responsible for reviewing loan applications for completeness and accuracy, verifying supporting income, and asset and liability documentation. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate a sense of urgency, willingness to work cooperatively with others, and be an effective team player whose primary focus is to service customers, since this position is their main point of contact. Responsibilities include prepare and move mortgage loans to closing. Additionally, the Loan Processor will review the documents to ensure they meet loan conditions, and with the Mortgage Banker coordinate with all parties to obtain additional documentation. Responsibilities also include completion of loan submissions and updating the conversation log as needed.
Business Description
Operations teams are located nationwide which handle the processing and closing of mortgage applications generated by the sales teams. Operations works to build functional excellence by delivering consistent customer and sales team support throughout the loan process with a focus on the customer experience and internal business controls.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Daily use and management of Chase Pipeline Prioritization System (PPS).
Process and prepare mortgage loans (conventional and government, purchase and refinance) under various loan programs for closing in accordance with policies & procedures.
Work directly with customers to ensure high customer satisfaction.
Maintain system accuracy, issue proper disclosures as required by federal regulatory compliance and review rate lock and point objectives for accuracy.
Set up files and order all necessary exhibits for appraisals and credit reports.
Prepare and calculate income and assets thoroughly before submission to underwriting.
Order and review title insurance, appraisals, loan payoffs, flood and tax certificates and surveys, and thoroughly review all documents before submission to underwriting.
Obtain and review documents for compliance with loan conditions with the Mortgage Banker, coordinate with buyers, sellers, title companies, escrow agents, surveyors and real estate agents to obtain additional documentation, complete loan submissions and perform closings.
Check alternative documentation for accuracy and potential problems.
Manage pipeline via daily PPS
Knowledge and Experience
Experience in mortgage loan processing (conventional and government, purchase and refinance, FHA/VA)
Minimum 1-2 years of experience strongly preferred.
Strong customer service skills and ability to manage difficult conversations to a successful outcome and positive customer experience
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other means to verify personal income
Solid analytical and problem solving skills preferred
Ability to manage pipeline daily while meeting monthly production and quality goals
Excellent organizational skills (ability to prioritize) preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred
Minimum 1 year of computer experience preferred, preferably with automated originations system strongly preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
