Legal - Strategic Plan Lead, ED (NYC)

The JPMorgan Chase Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the firm and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the lines of business and corporate staff areas of the company.  This structure facilitates effective discussion of legal, regulatory and business activities.


The Legal Chief Operating Office helps the General Counsel and the Legal Management Team establish and execute the department’s objectives by driving and supporting initiatives to implement firmwide standards and governance, provide financial discipline and risk controls, guide the people agenda and drive best practices. The Legal COO also helps attorneys and Legal staff by providing centralized services and tools to develop professional skills, manage projects and achieve business objectives, optimize processes and technology, and engage and connect employees.


The Legal Strategic Plan Lead will report directly to the Legal Chief Operating Officer and will execute on initiatives and projects in support of the Legal Department strategic plan. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Manage implementation of the Legal strategic plan, including oversight of process improvement and operational transformation objectives
  • Build relationships with Legal Department  senior leaders and stakeholders to guide implementation of strategic priorities
  • Influence strategic thinking and approach, quickly identifying the most critical aspects of the plan and connecting the overall vision to tangible action plans and outcomes
  • “Own” overall project success, including measuring performance against established objectives, ensuring appropriate escalation of issues as they arise, and driving initiatives and actions to completion
  • Establish tools, metrics and reporting to monitor completion of action plans, including regular analysis of results
  • Develop executive presentations for both internal and external audiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • 8+ years experience, including 3+ years managerial experience motivating and leading teams
  • Excellent facilitation, project management and consultative skills with strong business acumen and a focus on eliminating bureaucracy and influencing change
  • Familiarity with a broad range of analytical tools/problem-solving approaches
  • Experience in collaborating and negotiating across functions and levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Innovative, creative and results-oriented
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint tools
  • Experience working with Legal professionals a plus
