Applications Developer:

To complement an existing team of Java/J2EE and SQL developers, the position will be offered to candidates that can show a strong command of technical areas and financial business experience. The main program is focused on delivering systems across a global user community, trading is across multiple asset categories, with an initial focus on Alternative Investments.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be working on the basis of functional specification to create design and technical specification artifacts.
  • He or she will be producing java, javascript and sql code to deliver new feature requests combined with strong unit test cases to be used by automated build processes.
  • The candidate should expect to work with offshore development centers for some aspects of the duties.
  • The candidate will work under the supervision of a project manager/development manager in charge of defining the objectives and deadlines of the project.
  • The candidate should be expecting a culture of pair programming and should be familiar with SCRUM / XP principles.

General Skills
  • Good written and spoken technical English
  • Ability to write functional and technical specifications documents
  • Ability to integrate within a team and adapt to organization in place
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry is a must, Hedge Funds and Private Equity product types a plus
  • Strong analytical skills a must
  • Knowledge of Maven, BDD methodologies, Selenium, JIRA, ExtJS, Mule would be a plus.
Technical Skills
Must have:
  • Very Experienced Java, J2EE developer.  Minimum 3-5 years of experience.
  • Experience in implementation of middleware solutions (JAX-WS, JAX-RS, Mule, MQ) with a proven ability to propose a design that adheres to best practices and generally accepted design patterns.
  • Sybase Transact-SQL stored procedures programming experience ; alternatively Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL stored procedures programming experience. (minimum 3-5 years)
  • College Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Prefer Masters in Computer Science
