The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation.  The department also includes the Office of the Secretary.
 
Legal’ s Chief Operating Office establishes and executes the department’s objectives by driving and supporting management initiatives and providing centralized services and tools to members of the department.
 
Position Description:
The Legal Department’s Chief Operating Office is seeking a highly motivated Instructional Designer with development skills to assess and implement department-wide training aligned to strategic priorities.
 
This role involves joining the Legal Learning team that designs, develops and delivers innovative and custom learning and technology solutions to the legal department community.  The Instructional Designer will develop content and design e-learning, classroom, and technology training for the global Corporate Legal space, integrating with Training Central as well as the new firm-wide Learning Management System that is under development.
 
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and performance support of Corporate Legal Learning initiatives. This position partners closely with legal experts to turn subject matter into content that supports learning objectives, knowledge retention, and learner engagement for various audiences.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in delivering quality products for large scale initiatives and "client facing" experiences and skills with the ability to engage in conversations with Legal Department clients to determine training content and approach. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Support Legal Learning Manager in:
    • Design and conduct global training/technical needs assessments; identify and develop appropriate curriculum
    • Create and map curriculum for existing and new hire staff
    • Measure training effectiveness, impact on performance, and make improvements
  • Develop and implement learning content and software solutions from initiation to production, including design, development, data modeling, delivery, and testing
  • Maintain documentation of program development, revisions, and measurement
  • Identify best technology solutions and functionality improvements and integrate them to drive solutions
  • Liaise with Legal Technology to manage technical risk for learning platform
  • Engage and collaborate with firm-wide counterparts to define consistent approaches and solutions
Qualifications of Successful Candidates:
 
  • B.S. degree in business, organizational development/training, finance, HR, or equivalent (preferred)
  • 3 – 5 years experience in design, developing and implementing learning solutions
  • Excellent project management experience in designing/developing learning initiatives;  especially organizational skills, detail orientation, time-management, prioritization, multi-tasking / must be able to drive projects, debate merits of approach and collaborate effectively with others
  • Strong analytic and questioning skills and ability to distill large amounts of information into key messages; including translating expert knowledge into effective learning product
  • Understanding of adult learning principles
  • High degree of flexibility, materials will be developed rapidly with frequent changes and updates
  • Must be proactive; including escalating issues and proposing solutions
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues to successful outcome
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a fast-paced collaborative team
 
Required Technical Skills:
 
  • Creation and implementation of learning objects in multiple formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation
  • Use of storyboards, graphics, audio and video files, interactivity, and animations
  • Expertise in design and development of interactive web-based training solutions
  • Experience with SCORM and AICC. 
  • Experience with Articulate, Storyline and Captivate, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop
  • Strong web-development skills; working knowledge of tools such as Java, .NET and designing web application wireframes
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
