The Asset Management Derivatives Middle Office team is responsible for managing the technology to provide scalable solutions to the Middle Office Operations teams to manage trade lifecycle, collateral obligations and other financial key metrics associated with derivative financial products.


The Senior Java Applications Developer will be expected to drive some key projects within the team, mentor junior developers, manage the development process and work with the business users to analyze requirements and deliver solutions. 


Job Responsibilities include:

  • Working with business users and other teams to understand business requirements, translate them into functional specifications and formulating a technical solution.
  • Coding, Compiling, Unit testing, integration, packaging and deployment of developed software.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams in managing deliverables.
  • Collaborating with other developers to share development solutions, experiences, challenges and best practices.
  • Ensure overall quality of deliverables is consistent with defined standards and Agile development practice.
  • Assists in mentoring and growing junior developer resources.
  • Support, analyze and resolve production issues when necessary.
  • 6+ years of experience in a financial service environment including working as part of global teams.
  • 6+ years of hands on experience in Enterprise Application Development using Java/JavaScript, J2EE, XML, Web Services and HTML technologies.
  • Experience in building both Web Applications and Core Java processes.
  • Experience with open source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Struts, JSTL.
  • Experience with ANT, Maven build/deployment process.
  • Hands on experience in Oracle SQL (PL/SQL is a plus), Sybase TransactSQL.
  • JMS/MQ messaging experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of scheduling jobs and UNIX/Linux scripting is preferred.
  • UI experience with EXT/JS, Angular JS, AJAX and JavaScript is preferred.


Financial/Other Requirements

  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and ability to work with diversified multi-location team.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry is highly recommended.
  • General knowledge of different products and asset classes.
  • Knowledge of derivative products is strongly preferred.
