Asset Management - GIM - Variable Annuity Sales Team (Subadvisory) Internal Client Advisor - Associate - New York

Job Description

It offers the full spectrum of investment strategies - from equity, cash management, fixed income, currency and asset allocation to alternative asset classes such as private equity, real estate and hedge funds.
 
The primary role of the Variable Annuity Sales Team Internal Client Advisor is to prospect, close business, and promote insurance products where JPMAM investment capabilities are embedded (via subadvised mandates or variable insurance trusts).  This individual will primarily interact with internal insurance company wholesalers but will also partner with the Client Advisors to maintain relationships with external insurance wholesalers and VA-producing financial advisors.  The position requires accountability to the external salespeople covering the corresponding regions from the road. 
Roles/Responsibilities
 
  • Candidates should be self-starters who have a strong desire to succeed and to achieve goals in a consistent and timely manner.
  • The primary objectives are to
    • Develop, cultivate, and manage relationships with internal insurance company wholesalers through proactive calls to inform and reinforce the JPMorgan investment story
    • Influence insurance and advisor counterparts in the placement of JPMAM investment strategies within a selected variable annuity line-up
    • Partner with Funds Management retail sales counterparts to identify VA-producing advisors to target in addition to current business model focused on driving cash flow via insurance wholesaler interactions
  • You will also be responsible for sales by prospecting via conference attendance, cold calling, direct mail campaigns, etc.
  • Individual is responsible for responding to client inquiries, providing ongoing communication with clients/prospects, and managing the client/prospects throughout the sales cycle, resulting in closed business.
  • In addition, you will provide sales support to the external wholesaler in the region through client call follow-ups, written follow-up and lead generation.
  • Participating in the development of VA content, capabilities, and tools throughout the organization with complete integration into sales practices and processes
  • Build and maintain internal resources across Funds Management and portfolio management teams, leveraging shared resources and communicating sales and marketing intelligence to clients

The candidate will have:

  • Proven results and demonstrated sustainable achievement in a competitive environment (drive for achievement)

  • Ability to learn and demonstrate industry and product knowledge by understanding the competition, the client and marketplace (technical expertise)

  • Capacity to build relationships across entire organization and with our partner firms (strength managing relationships)

  • Familiarity with financial markets, market terminology, capital markets history and economic indicators, along with equity, fixed income, international, emerging markets, currency and alternative asset classes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively leverage our global resources

Education:

Bachelor's degree

 

Licensing:

  • Required prior to hiring Series 7; Series 63 (or 66)

  • Obtain after hiring Series 7; Series 63 (if candidate does not already have these licenses)

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in sales role within financial services industry preferred

  • Understanding of variable annuity and insurance products and platforms preferred

 

Candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership abilities, including:

  • Ability to drive sales results

  • Focus and desire to increase and retain the firm's assets

  • Drive to exceed activity requirements

  • Ability to identify opportunities and suggest creative solutions

  • Ability to tell the "JPM story" clearly, concisely, and in a compelling way to create interest by utilizing the JPMorgan seven-step sales process

  • Ability to grow, develop and maintain working relationships with advisors

  • Willingness to travel in territory as required

  • Proficiency in the use our customer relationship management (CRM) system

  • Ability to administer, on a timely basis, required reports to the appropriate JPM areas including sales plans, call reports, and promotional programs

  • Effectiveness in presenting to internal and external insurance company wholesalers and financial advisors
