This is an existing position for the Global Real Estate, Property Management, Environmental Health and Safety Group.  Incumbent is responsible to establish, communicate, interpret and enforce policies, and procedures with the direct objective to minimize environmental liability and maintain environmental, health and safety compliance at all physical properties of JPMC and tenant areas of Corporate owned and/or leased facilities under the direction of JPMC GRE Real Estate Operations.
 
This position may include but is not limited to the following responsibilities;
  • Reporting to Environmental Health and Safety Department Manager, incumbent is responsible to establish, communicate, interpret and enforce policies and procedures to minimize environmental liability.
  • Provided subject matter expertise to responses to government regulatory requirements for: OSHA compliance; Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA); and other governmental environmental regulatory compliance issues.
  • Provide project management for selected in-house assessment/remediation projects;
  • Conduct oversight of JPMorgan Chase and contract facility services providers;
  • Research and analyze complex environmental issues for updating and calibrating JP Morgan Chase policies and risk tolerance;
  • Provide guidance and insight on the management and removal of UST/AST along with any contamination resulting from these tanks.
  • Develop disaster response specific SOPs aligned with potential hazards present within or around facilities impacted by natural disasters. Support Real Estate Operations during disaster preparedness and response including assessment of impact to properties, management of vendors, and establishing clearance criteria for restoration of properties;
  • Collaborate with JPMC Sourcing to secure contracts, establish pricing, ensure vendors’ services adequately cover the portfolio and business requirements, and ensure vendors qualify with JPMC internal requirements;
  • Other assignments and duties as assigned to support Environmental Health and Safety mission.
  
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a pertinent environmental discipline (e.g., geology, environmental/civil/chemical engineering, geochemistry, toxicology, environmental science, etc.). A post-graduate degree is desired, but not required.
12+ years, with the following:
  • Site safety and hygiene as it relates to assessment and remediation sites;
  • Underground storage tank decommissioning, assessment, remediation and closure projects;
  • Asbestos survey, abatement and clearance projects;
  • Analysis of complex site issues, including:
    • Federal, state and local regulatory compliance issues; and
    • Preparation/review of technical reports;
  • Effective communications with multidisciplinary professionals (attorneys, construction managers and regulators);
  • Regional/National/International travel (U.S. passport desired, but not required).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • High level of understanding with word processing and spreadsheet programs;
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to travel approximately 25-40%, often with short notice;
  • Ability to work independently, high attention to detail, understand construction critical path timelines, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously;
  • Strong analytical and research skills;
  • High level of understanding with word processing and spreadsheet programs;
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with Federal/State/Local environmental regulations; and
  • While not a specific requirement incumbent with experience in health and safety standards (OSHA, NIOSHA, Cal-OSHA, mold, asbestos, IAQ testing, abatement of contaminated building materials and site environmental assessments) would be a plus and considered very beneficial in the filling of this position.
