Global Commodities Group (GCG) Technology supports the front to back Commodities business in global investment bank.  The team you will be joining is responsible for support and development of the Market Risk, Product Control and Finance functions for the GCG Commodities business the best-in-class proprietary Athena development environment.
The team is spread across London, New York and Houston supporting market risk and finance in EMEA, NA and APAC.
This is a chance to join a well-established team which will give you a wide exposure to front office deliverables.  You will be joining the team in Houston as a developer.  Your team will be responsible for the build-out and support of a suite of global applications supporting VaR, Stress, Risk, PNL and Accounting, the team is also responsible for the support and build-out of the underlying technologies employed in the end of day stack within Athena.  The successful applicant will enjoy working in a fast moving and dynamic environment, working as part of a global team with requirements flowing from trading activities, business stake holder requirements, a strong regulatory agenda and a technology driven internal investment program.
The role offers a uniquely diverse problem set covering multiple horizontal functions across several line-of-business verticals; you will be expected to face off against business stake holders in each of the horizontals as well as line of business technology peers in each of the vertical functions managing the full life-cycle of software delivery, from requirements, implementation through to testing and deployment. 
Much of the development will leverage new Athena components to deliver technology to assist front office in making informed trading decisions.
Key responsibilities:

Technical leadership, development and support for GCG Front, Middle and Back Office globally for the strategic Athena system. 
A key objective is to drive high quality development using collaborative, test driven and agile development styles, the successful applicant will be keen to adopt, promote and mentor such practices.
  • Computer science or numerate degree in math’s, sciences or engineering related subject
  • Strong programming experience – preferably Python
  • Knowledge of financial derivatives – preferably commodities
  • Experience of coding for a Front Office trading technology function
  • Experience dealing directly with Traders and Control functions
