Investigations Specialist- FCOI Intake - Tampa,FL

Job Description

Investigations Specialist will independently conduct external investigations which may include interviews of witnesses and suspects. The candidate will be required to manage a portfolio of multiple investigations - gather evidence, interview witnesses and suspects, document findings in FCOI's case management system, work with law enforcement, comply with regulatory requirements and FCOI policies, and identify potential control issues. Independently conducts external fraud investigations, including interviews of witnesses and suspects. Makes decisions autonomously, consulting with management on more complex issues. Gathers thorough/accurate evidence on multiple case assignments including: financial profiles, tracing financial transactions, and background information on suspects. Documents key data and issues related to the investigation; responsible for analyzing data; making and documenting critical regulatory reporting decisions; completes accurate and timely regulatory reports. Position involves access to highly sensitive and confidential information. The Senior Specialist II is responsible for:

  • analyzing individual cases for closure or referral to other units
  • identifying and escalating key control deficiencies to LOB Risk Management; and/or to develop new fraud detection and investigations methodology.
  • Gathers evidence for cases including: tracing financial transactions, reviewing suspects' backgrounds and financial profiles using various systems and tools.
  • Majority of cases are related to check and / or loan fraud.
  • Documents key data related to the investigation including potential loss, status of investigations, interviews, etc.
  • Gathers, evaluates & compiles thorough/accurate information regarding multiple case assignments.

This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems.  Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter.  The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or comparable work experience preferred
  • Strong investigative skills required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven judgment and problem-resolution skills.
  • 3-5 years in an investigative role or role that requires research and investigative skills
  • Experience in filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) preferred
  • Previous experience with internal applications such as Customer Assist or iVault a plus
