Our function
 
The EMEA Compliance Surveillance team (“Surveillance”) monitors and analyses the sales, trading and banking activities conducted by the Corporate Investment Bank as well as undertaking the surveillance of electronic  communications (e.g. e-mail, Bloomberg etc.) and telephone communications.  Surveillance utilises and develops electronic tools and integrative techniques to detect potential and/or actual violations of firm policy and legal/regulatory requirements. Surveillance works in close partnership with various Compliance teams and groups across the Firm. 
 
Opportunity
 
The opportunity is to join the EMEA Surveillance Governance team working principally for the ED tier.
Key responsibilities:
  • Managing the Surveillance Governance program day-to-day
  • Identifying areas of risk and analysing trends of data
  • Ensuring relevant controls are in place from a risk perspective
  • Development and build out of controls in line with new projects and initiatives
  • Oversight of Management Information and regular reporting to various Committees/Meetings
  • Preparation of other ad hoc materials/ presentations for the group and involvement in certain reviews
Requirements
 
The role requires experience of working in a Governance role, preparing management Reporting, managing the Controls environment and the ability to handle a large workload. The candidate needs to be able to take full ownership of deliverables and to be able to deal confidently with people at all levels in the organization.
 
Essential skills
  • Strong PowerPoint, Excel and Sharepoint knowledge
  • Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to multiple tight deadlines
  • Be adaptable and flexible in approach
  • Good knowledge of Information Barriers/Handling of material non-public information; Anti-trust/Competition issues; Manipulation; Front running; Misuse of client confidential information Interest in the Hedge Fund and Asset Management industry
  • Non-English language skills would be useful
