Departmental Description
Managing Conflicts of Interest (COI) is an integral part of our business. As such, the firmwide Fiduciary and Conflicts of Interest Program has established a disciplined and structured approach to managing COI.  The implemented framework outlines how COI should be managed by the business through a combination of policies and procedures, governance and oversight, disclosure and validation that key controls are in place and operating effectively. The Central Team will work closely with all LOBs and Control functions to ensure a robust control environment and consistent management of COI risks.  The Central Team will continue to drive a consistent approach to COI matters – a core principle that was established by the Firmwide Program.
 
 
Core Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Oversee the execution of the Firmwide COI Framework across LOBs and Corporate Functions –  resolve or escalate issues where necessary
  • Establish the agenda, oversight of producing materials, and communicate key updates for the Cross-LOB Conflicts of Interest Advisory Council
  • Provide oversight and coordinate with Firmwide RCSA and Operational Risk teams to understand the impact of any changes to the Firmwide Risk and Control libraries, COR RCSA Standards, RCSA Program Artifact documents to the COI Framework execution
  • Facilitate ongoing RCSA COI activities – such as firmwide Inherent Risk and Controls Calibration analysis and support businesses through the assessment process
  • Liaise with Legal and Compliance to help interpret and assess any changes in rules or regulations related to COIs
  • Understand and manage the impact of other Firmwide initiatives and existing programs to COI Framework
  • Commence status updates and reporting of COI BAU activities
  • Respond to inquiries and potential issues regarding audit and OCC validation of COI program deliverables
  • Manage COI central team resources
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Strong written and oral communications and influencing skills
    • Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills
    • Global and bankwide perspective
    • Process oriented
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize a large number of conflicting and frequently changing deliverables
    • Ability to think on their feet and apply critical thinking and logical/structured framework to situations such as business case development and issue resolution
    • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
    • Possess sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity, and resourcefulness
    • Strong team player who is easy to work with, shows commitment and dedication to personal development, and can maintain both a positive attitude and high level of performance on high demand/time-sensitive initiatives
      
    Desirable Skills/Experience
    • Executive Director within the business, Operations, or controls organization
    • Working knowledge of RCSA structure and execution
    • Product and/or process knowledge of at least one core business and experience in cross-product analysis
    • Ability to connect dots, multi-task, and execute
    • A key contributing member of a high performing organization
