RFT - RDT Instrument - GIM - Java Developer

Job Description

The Reference Data Technology Instruments team (part of the RFT) provides reference data delivery solutions mastering and distributing instrument reference data across the various lines of businesses delivering Client, Account, Document, Instrument and Core Reference.


This developer lead role shall be part of a team working on the strategic build up of the future state reference data technology platform for the various lines of businesses. Candidates will be expected to possess and demonstrate solid experience of key technologies including Core Java, J2EE skills. Good RDBMS/SQL database skills and solid UNIX experience are also required. 

The candidate will be a good problem solver who is happy to work in a challenging and changeable environment.  The role involves working closely with other team members, analysts and clients globally to deliver software to strict deadlines with high quality.

The role, based in Hyderabad, requires someone with a strong and proven background in, Java development with SQL experience having very good people and organizational skills. They will need to be comfortable working across organizational boundaries and be able to gain support from key stakeholders to endorse process improvements. Quality will be a top priority, but the ability to demonstrate effective and efficient delivery will be a key measure of success.

 

Essential skills:

1.       Core Java, key APIs are: JMS, JUnit and JDBC

2.       J2EE (Web Services, Servlets) with Tomcat application server

3.       Strong fundamentals in data structures, caching, multithreading, messaging and asynchronous communication

4.       JSON and XML – streaming parsers

5.       RDBMS/SQL (esp. Oracle, preferably to include writing stored procedures)

6.       RESTful web services development

7.       Message Brokers – WebSphere MQ

8.       Java Frameworks (Spring)

9.       Development tools (Maven, Jenkins, Eclipse)

10.    Familiarity with Linux and knowledge of command line

Experience in Agile development techniques like Scrum and Test Driven development 

Git / Subversion source control, maven, concordian/fitnesse, crucible, sonar  and JIRA desirable.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to Rules Engine, preferably Drools 
  • Experience or knowledge of Reference Data as it relates to an Investment Bank would be an advantage 
  • An understanding of the investment banking - experience in one or more of the following business areas:: Fixed Income, FX, F&O, Credit Derivatives, Interest Rate Derivatives, and Hedge Funds
