Asset Mgmt Risk – Global Wealth Mgmt, EMEA Investment Risk Associate

 GWM Investment Risk Management provides oversight of GWM’s investment businesses to ensure that the risks taken in managed portfolios are appropriate to their investment objectives.  The team covers all investing activities within GWM, from product onboarding to regular monitoring and governance.  Investment Risk works closely with the other risk disciplines within GWM: Fiduciary risk, Credit risk, Operational risk and Reputational risk.

 EMEA Investment Risk Associate

The EMEA Investment Risk Associate is regionally-aligned to Europe, Middle East and Africa.  The role supports Risk’s independent oversight of the activities of the front office product solutions teams in EMEA GWM.   This includes working with the functional-aligned Risk team in New York and other regional risk officers.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform analysis to support the review of front office due diligence teams covering mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, liquid alternatives, private equity/real estate funds and separately managed accounts used on the EMEA platform
  • Review manager research, onboarding recommendations and rating actions from GWM’s due diligence teams
  • Work with NY Investment Risk team to monitor fund-level metrics
  • Provide analysis and monitoring of products offered by the Global Solutions group, including OTC derivatives strategies and structured products
  • Work with the Investment Risk Research team to develop and enhance analytical tools for risk oversight
  • Perform market risk oversight of the trading activities of the EMEA Solutions group
  • Support the EMEA Investment team and regional risk officers in carrying out the review of activities in their regions
  • Conduct ad hoc risk analysis for various projects, or in response to internal/external requests
  • Assist in risk analysis of new business initiatives
  • Support projects and other requirements for the EMEA Investment Risk team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 year of financial industry experience in one or more of the following areas: investment risk, market risk, derivatives or structured products marketing or research/analytics
  • Very high analytic aptitude and problem solving skills
  • Good knowledge of financial products and associated risk management
  • Self-starter with ability to manage projects independently
  • Strong partnership skills; experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Controls-oriented mentality - ability to anticipate potential issues and work with partners to ensure robust controls are in
